They're good for avoiding turbulance; so if you fly around buildings or trees they can be good for getting cleaner wind higher up (30-40m lines), but
you can loose a tiny tiny little bit of control.
Theres an argument for, and an argument against.

Just as lengthening a clock pendulum will slow it dow, longer lines will slow the kite and give it more time in the power zone.
Increased drag will contribute to slowing it too, since drag increases to the square of surface area.
There's weight, too, so I wouldn't do it on a small kite. If you were doing it to find more wind in light air, your wouldn't be using a small kite
anyway, given a choice.
