Wow, watching all those soft landings made me actually consider jumping. Then I saw the guy without the helmet using his face as a brake. It's all these guys with loads of practice who make it look so easy that get me in trouble. At least he was in sand.
I can't wait to try out my new 5 meter Haka! Static flew it yesterday for a few minutes and plan to buggy today. First impression - seems much like a blade, came with a strop installed, but seems a little too short for my taste. Wicked beautiful!

You'll find most strops too short, reason for this is if you use it with a proper block and quick release it still ends up putting the handles a little too far away for comfort. If it's too short for your liking, best bet, cut it about 3-4" from the handles, tie a knot on each of them and then make a longer strop and larks head it to the pig tails you've just made.

I suggest removing the strop all together until you get a harness and actually need it. The supplied strop on the Haka is quite short for my taste. Like Pablo said you can lengthen it as needed. If you don't need it just remove it and save it for later.

What's a strop?

kitemaker4 - 12-7-2007 at 09:59 AM

A strop is the link line between the handles that you use to hook into a harness with.

have you seen this one - since you mentioned 'using his face as a brake'.... here's some pretty unfortunately kiting accidents... (just hope I don't show up in one of these clips)
