Pass the Pansh & Brooza Program

 Pages:  1    3  4

SecondWind - 20-7-2007 at 07:52 PM

Hello all,

I'm willing to loan out a new 5m Ace to the Power Kite Forum. It is just the kite - no lines or handles.

I shipped it off to Tridude yesterday for a review. After he's done with it he can ship it off (at his expense) to the next person in line. Once that person is done, they can ship it off (at their expense) to the next in line.

Sound like a good plan? It's just for fun - I always like trying out new gear.

No tweaking was needed when I used a set of Flexi lines and handles - just hook up and fly.

khooke - 20-7-2007 at 08:03 PM

Very cool - thats a neat idea! Can you add me to the list? I'm interested to see how lifty the Ace is - I've been thinking of getting one for buggying, but if it's likely to pull me out of the buggy in gusts then maybe its not for me?

SecondWind - 20-7-2007 at 08:06 PM

OK - lets make this the list! You are after Tridude.

Pablo - 20-7-2007 at 09:02 PM

Wicked idea, anyone interested in trying this with other kites as well?

beachrights - 20-7-2007 at 11:09 PM

I think this is a great idea! There would have to be some control over the "program" due to the investments we all have made. I would not feel comfortable loaning out a $300+ kite to any Joe schmo who happened to venture into this forum. I have not been a member of this forum for more than year but I know who is who and there are certain names I would trust. All of the names on the above posts I would send all of my kites to and know they would be treated with respect and returned in one piece.

Of couse that would leave me without a kite and I would go into seizures and well it would just be a mess! I changed my mind, I would send all BUT one kite out to you guys!

GulfSandEater - 20-7-2007 at 11:15 PM

DaVinch, that would be awesome to get to try it. Please add me to the list. The Ace 5.0 would probably be the next kite to get after my Legend 3.0. Unless you guys think the Ace would be a bit too much aspect ratio after learning on the Legend.

SecondWind - 21-7-2007 at 06:02 AM

Here's the list so far:

Tridude
Khooke
GulfSandEater
kiteboarder2b

It will be fun to hear the reviews.

Pablo - 21-7-2007 at 09:25 AM

Well, if people are interested, I can add either a 4m or a 5.5m Brooza to the mix, same deal, kite only and each person would be responsible for getting it to the next person on the list. I've already got a package going down to Davinch. Should be in the mail this morning, but I'll hold off to see if another kite's going in there.

SecondWind - 21-7-2007 at 11:50 AM

Sounds great Pablo - I would be willing to ship it to the next in line once it got here. Just pack it up with the big ol' Century that is coming my way :D

Pablo - 21-7-2007 at 11:51 AM

k, done, going in the mail in the next hour.
5.5m brooza on the way.

Pdxnebula - 21-7-2007 at 07:24 PM

I'd like to try the ACE... Would like to give a bigger kite a try with all this "Lack of wind" here in PDX-(Portland) Put me on the list...

Yeah it has been kinda dead around here lately. Seriously though, let me know if you want to meet up- I've got some larger kites that you are welcome to try. (not a 5m Ace but I do have a 8m Ace :o... and some smaller sizes of other kites ;) ). When I started out I didn't know anyone or have any access to try out kites other than what I owned, which probably accounts for my eclectic kite bag!

Pablo- I'd be really interested in trying out a Brooza sometime. I've had my eye on these kites for a while. :)

SecondWind - 21-7-2007 at 07:40 PM

Pablo - thanks for hooking us up with the Brooza! Once I fly her, I'll send it off to Archkiter.

I have not had a chance to fly one yet - thanks again!

tridude - 25-7-2007 at 08:46 AM

Took the 5m Ace out yesterday and shot a couple vids--the program is underway! Linked 2 vids, the first one is so so until about 2:55 mins in! A must see!

Second vid has some pattern work and scudding, a smallish pend jump in there as well. Winds were 8 gusting to 12mph! Enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uih4YaxvgyU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdRL9H8U1cI

Forgot to mention the kite and car are fine--that babies got 297,000 miles on it!

Dagon - 25-7-2007 at 10:20 AM

Can you add me to that list, I have been wanting to try that kite.

SecondWind - 25-7-2007 at 02:18 PM

Hey Tridude - stop crashing that Chinese kite into your minivan!

Which kite dagon? The Pansh or Brooza?

SecondWind - 26-7-2007 at 04:16 AM

Here's what I have for the Pansh:

Tridude
Khooke
GulfSandEater
kiteboarder2b
Pdxnebula

And for the Brooza:

DaVinch
Archkiter

khooke - 26-7-2007 at 08:02 AM

Dagon - I'll give you a shout when the Ace arrives if you want to take a look.

khooke - 26-7-2007 at 08:14 AM

wow, just watched the vids... flies super smooth and turns really well?

tridude - 26-7-2007 at 09:18 AM

Flies very well! Grunty rascal, and loves break input! Not to mention, fairly tough too! I wasnt trying to validate build quality but the sail is very light, well stitched, and durable. I smacked the Previa pretty hard with it! Not sure what type of ripstop they're using but its very nice! Let me get a couple high wind days on it, and shes headed your way!

Conju - 26-7-2007 at 09:35 AM

Pdxnebula, could you U2u me when the ace is on its way to you? I'd like to try it as well so maybe we could meet up and split shipping to the next guy if that works for you...

just thinking out loud.

Btw im in salem.

SecondWind - 30-7-2007 at 07:51 PM

OK - I got in the 5.5m Brooza from Pablo today. I hope to fly it this week

Here is the updated list:

Tridude
Khooke
GulfSandEater
kiteboarder2b

And for the Brooza:

DaVinch
Archkiter

SecondWind - 31-7-2007 at 07:40 PM

I flew the Brooza today - nice kite

I used a set of Flexi lines and handles, shortened up the main lines by about four inches and off she went.

Lots of power for only 5.5 meters!

The winds were 12mph and clean from the South. Super stable kite, not much lift and easy to fly...

Let me get in one more good session and then I'll send it to you Archkiter. :D

Pdxnebula - 31-7-2007 at 08:43 PM

Had to back out of the Ace for now people (no way to get lines strong enough for it right now) ... & now the winds start to pick up... Had the RushII 250 out today in a good solid 20mph... Tons of pull, not enough for any serious scudding but sure gave the arms a good workout & snapped a power ling on my 6' quad, & my little 56" thunderfoil was like a Bug on speed... way fast trying to keep up with it, but a ball in higer winds...:)

tridude - 2-8-2007 at 11:20 AM

Khooke,

Ill have it in the mail tomorrow (Fri) or Monday. Took the lines off and laced the power bridle to the break bridle on each side. Kite has alot of grunt but couldnt really get the pop to make it lift. Flew it side by side with my 5m Haka this morning and the Haka is much faster thru the window and alot more pop. But for $100 bucks, its a nice kite. Did a couple of runs on the board and it parks and pulls/sines well! Enjoy and thanx Da V for the test ride! Fly hard and safe!

Tri

SecondWind - 3-8-2007 at 04:53 PM

OK - I sent off the Brooza to ya Archkiter. You should have it early next week. Thanks for letting me try it out Pablo!

Pablo - 3-8-2007 at 07:35 PM

Not a problem, Who's after Archkiter for the Brooza?

archkiter - 8-8-2007 at 03:03 PM

Brooza just arrived today- Thanks! Hopefully I'll get to try it out this weekend :)

SecondWind - 8-8-2007 at 07:16 PM

khooke - Tridude needs your address for the Ace.

Thanks!

tridude - 8-8-2007 at 09:45 PM

Hey Khooke,

Got my server goin again and have your addy! Will send Thursday am! Enjoy! Have a great weekend all. Off to Oxford, Mississippi--sons back to school. The summer seemed to fly by. Fly hard and safe! Hotty Totty, wam bam, Ole Miss, gosh damn!

khooke - 8-8-2007 at 10:08 PM

Tridude - got a message from Davinch and just emailed you my address as well.

Thanks for passing it on - can't wait to check it out!

BeamerBob - 9-8-2007 at 06:10 AM

I would be honored to get a chance at the Ace 5.0. I bought my Blaze back in the spring and somewhat wished I had bought the Ace instead. I've really enjoyed the Blaze and would like a chance to compare it to the Ace. The loner Ace is the same size as my Blaze so it would be an apples to apples comparison. What size lines does the Ace like? I've tried the Blaze with 65' lines and 82'. It likes the 82's much better.

Sthrasher38 - 9-8-2007 at 03:28 PM

Please put Sthrasher on the list! How are you going to keep track of all this? This is big you guys! I wish this would have started when I was buying kites. It will help alot and I am sure it will spread like wild fire. So how many on list before me? How long can you use before passing on. Excited! Thanks.:saint:

Bladerunner - 9-8-2007 at 03:41 PM

Sthrasher,
The 5.5 Brooza is in Oregon right now with Archkiter. Shipping should be reasonable from there + I don't think anyone else is in line.
You should take a look at + try the Brooza. They are a bit different in construction. Adjustable bridles + a different vent system. It has only 2 vents per side. That makes it a bit slow to inflate but a big advantage in bad winds.

Sthrasher38 - 9-8-2007 at 04:26 PM

Ok someone send me a u2u with what to do and how to get. Thanks I would love to try. Is that ok pablo? Let me know how much.

SecondWind - 9-8-2007 at 04:45 PM

No problem Beamerbob - we'll add you to the Ace list. I think you should try the Brooza also. It's a good flying kite

Archkiter has the Brooza now, Contact her with your shipping info, basically, you pay to ship it to the next guy. Keep the kite for as long as you need, hopefully you can get at least 2-3 days on it to get a feel for it.

So

Brooza 5.5m

Sthrasher38 - 9-8-2007 at 05:19 PM

I will do that thanks Pablo!!!

archkiter - 9-8-2007 at 07:46 PM

Got your address Strasher! I am hoping to try it out this weekend if conditions permit- then I'll send it your way :)

BeamerBob - 10-8-2007 at 08:31 AM

You talked me into it. This is probably the only chance I would ever get to try a Brooza. It looks like a stout piece of work. So that puts me on the Brooza and the Ace lists. I see a trip to the coast coming up in the next few weeks, so maybe I might have one or both of them when that trip comes together. This is really cool. Makes it like we are all in the same town.

Sthrasher38 - 10-8-2007 at 03:38 PM

Thanks all! Ok me then Beamer Bob. I just came back from the coast and I got my kite just in time to go. Had a blast. I will try to get it to you before then. But we have to take turns:P I have to try this baby too I almost bought one already So this is great! I'll get to try before I buy. Which I think is very fair and honest. You guys are hella cool for starting this. I hope it works out. I would like to try the Ace also. So, Bob i'll be sending you the brooza and you can send me the Ace. Everyone needs to tell someone. the wife, kids, friend.) What we are doing so that in the event that someone dies or gets sick goes to jail.(yada-yada) The kites dont end up sitting in a closet somewhere. Hope I didnt jinks anyone. Just an Idea.:wink2:

Khooke,

Ace is on the way. Sorry for the delay, last week was college move in week. Enjoy and fly safe!

Tridude

BeamerBob - 14-8-2007 at 10:01 AM

I hope the kites come with some wind in the boxes. I haven't had enough wind to get the kite out of the bag in weeks now. Well the beach would be more fun anyways. Good idea to let someone know about this. No one I know outside the forum would have a clue about my participation here, much less in the loaner program. Thanks to the donors. I will treat the kites with the utmost respect (a little better than if it was mine)

Sthrasher38 - 14-8-2007 at 04:51 PM

Me too no wind! How many on the list before we get to try the Ace? Pablo can't wait to try the Brooza:smug:Man I hope it gets windy soon:saint:Looking for a good ride on a rice field landing strip! Archkiter are you still flying? How do you like it? Let us know.:frog:

Yeah I flew the Brooza for a bit last weekend. I wrote a brief review of it on this thread:

http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=2343

Nice kite! I am hoping that I can fly it once more this weekend then I'll pass it on :)

Sthrasher38 - 15-8-2007 at 01:53 PM

Cool Thanks.:cool2:

khooke - 15-8-2007 at 08:49 PM

Hey Sthrasher - you're in Sac aren't you? Where is this rice field landing strip you mention? Sounds interesting!

Sthrasher38 - 16-8-2007 at 03:02 PM

I am in marysville. The strip is out towards a place called mathews dryers. It's not real long but good enough for a run.going north on highway 20 its off to the left a ways. There is no wind hear right now and the rice still has a little more drying to do then its on! Real good wind out there if it is comming from the north. Lots of rice fields everywhere. Do you know someone with a sod field?

khooke - 16-8-2007 at 10:47 PM

PM dagon about the field - he'll send you info.

Sthrasher38 - 17-8-2007 at 04:53 PM

Thanks

Has the Ace arrived yet?

gilligan - 19-8-2007 at 12:10 PM

I'd like to get on the brooza list... after having a buster with the rope bridles I'd like to give PKD another chance!

khooke - 20-8-2007 at 09:44 PM

Tridude/DaVinch - the Ace arrived today. Picked it up this evening after work so haven't had a chance to fly it yet.

Unpacking it on the floor - first impressions - it's wiiiiide - v. high aspect, not sure what I was expecting but it's definitely thin and wide ;)

Build quality looks pretty solid to me. Stitching looks very neat and tidy. Some of the insides looks a bit scruffy, but hey, you don't see that stuff unless you're like me and stick you head in the openings to see what's going on inside ;)

There's been a lot of talk on the RK forum about the material the Ace is made out of, and a lot of talk about ripstop nylon vs ripstop polyester, longevity etc. Someone mentioned the Aces are made from polyester so I was expecting to see something like the material my Skytiger Hi60 is made of, Icarex Polyester, but it's nothing like Icarex. Which actually I think is a plus, because 10 years on my Icarex Hi60 is starting to look a little thin in places. Icarex is very thin and light, almost like tissue paper. The stuff the Ace is made of is definitely tougher, but still looks thiner than other ripstop nylon kites I've seen. It feels pretty similar to the 12.5m Blaze that I have, so maybe all Panshes are made from the same material? It feels thicker, more crispy than my Blaze though, and is hemmed over double and double stitched - looks a lot tougher than my Blaze.

Anyway, thats my first impressions, will let you know more when I take it out for a fly this weekend. Thanks again to Tridude for passing it on, and for Davinch for sharing!

Since it's only 2 weeks to SOBB, does someone want to pick it up in person from me from SOBB instead of mailing it? (I'll have to go back to the list to see who's next), but will this work for someone instead of mailing it direct?

I'd still like to give it one more go......:singing:

BeamerBob - 21-8-2007 at 06:24 AM

If someone has a special opportunity to fly the kites, I don't mind being passed over. Our wind is just nothing for weeks now. We are headed for some cooler weather but I don't know if that will generate any wind for me. I'm flexible on the order of this.

tridude - 21-8-2007 at 09:25 AM

Glad to see you got it Khooke!!

GulfSandEater - 21-8-2007 at 09:45 AM

Khooke,

I think I'm next for the ACE and won't be able to make it to event. If someone else on the list wants to meet Khooke and take it from him, I don't mind getting it later.

However, I'm looking forward to trying the ACE 5m, so let me know when you're able to send it (whoever "You" might be) and I'll U2U my info.

Thanks again DaVinch for this chance to try the kites!

Sthrasher38 - 21-8-2007 at 04:27 PM

I feel the same way take your time and get to fly thats what they are for. I don't think the kites or the form is going anywhere for awhile. Just let us know and have fun!:cool2:

Sthrasher38 - 21-8-2007 at 04:32 PM

DaVinch,
Who is next in line for the Ace? I would also like to try when it gets close enough. thanks.

tridude - 21-8-2007 at 08:50 PM

Stop yappin and fly the kite!:D:spin:

Might want to see if anyone else in the US needs a go before it comes back to Canada, border crossings can be a pain. whoever does, be sure to gift it, $0 cash value.

Baluk - 23-8-2007 at 05:32 PM

Thanks Pablo.

Appreciate it. Yes, gotta hate those borders!

tridude - 23-8-2007 at 08:09 PM

Mark is a top drawer guy Pablo. We've exchanged a few lies on racekites over the last few months!

Pablo - 23-8-2007 at 08:40 PM

Yeah, not a problem, just need to make sure it's done in the states for now before it heads back to canada. Once the kite comes home I'll be open to sending out another kite. Seems like a good program to have running. Hopefully there will be a Combat kicking around by then.

khooke - 24-8-2007 at 10:36 PM

I'd be very interested to try out a Combat if you decide to pass one round!

Sthrasher38 - 25-8-2007 at 06:05 PM

Me too! I'll be on the list. Pablo was telling me about these when they fist came out.:wow:

Baluk - 25-8-2007 at 06:33 PM

Hi Pablo,

If you end up passing the Combat, could I either be one of the first (or I guess last !) as I'm form canada so it would make sense
:)

Sthrasher38 - 25-8-2007 at 06:40 PM

Pablo is in canada too. So maybe you can be first.:wow:

Pablo - 25-8-2007 at 09:22 PM

Sounds good, kite should be in the mail in the next week or so, sadly, won't be here for SOBB, gonna have to rock a Century for the event.

Bladerunner - 26-8-2007 at 08:43 AM

Sold the 13 too soon EH ! :wow:
I wouldn't have let that one go until I was SURE there was an equal. That was a unique kite !

archkiter - 27-8-2007 at 09:48 AM

Well the wind was too low to try the Brooza yesterday- although it was an awesome day at the beach!

Pablo, Snowbird suggested that I hang onto the kite for another week to bring to SOBB- what do you think, should I send it along or wait until after the event. I don't want to hog it up :)

Sthrasher38 - 27-8-2007 at 03:29 PM

Thats fine with me. I am next in line But feel free to take it with ya. Have fun. Conditions not real good here also.So no hurry.:frog:

Well, it may as well stay on the tour until everyone that's wanted it has a go on it, I've still got a 5m Buster II, 4m Brooza, 4.8m Combat in my bag to fill the gap. Honestly if it's 5m weather I'll probably be flying the 4.8m Combat, I'll have a 6.5m Century as well, so no worries.

It may however be an idea to hold on to it until SOBB, then if anyone wants a go on it they can give it a rip there, then send it to the next stop.

khooke - 28-8-2007 at 11:20 PM

Just posted a brief review of the 5m Ace in the reviews section - had a good buggy session with it for an hour or so last weekend. The wind wasn't more than 12mph though, and for most of the time around 8mph, so decided to switch to the 12.5m Blaze for the rest of the session.

I tried to get some video but my helmet cam turned off at some point. I did capture some of me zooming by with the 12.5m though - check it out:

Can I be first :p ?

Now that would be cool :o

Tridude, you don't really want to dissapoint us, do you?

Come on... you know you wanna....

tridude - 30-8-2007 at 08:54 PM

Mark,

I only have one kite! Have you been drinking?:duh:

Baluk - 30-8-2007 at 08:56 PM

Just dreaming.... :D

Ah.. one day....

tridude - 30-8-2007 at 09:11 PM

Another kite (depower) you may want to consider is the Air Evolution X Air. Option Kite in Quebec City, owners name is Hugo, may work a deal with you for the Phantom. He has the 8, 10 ,and 12 meters in stock. Awesome kite for snow and landboarding! Just google Option Kite! If you parlay voo even better!

Baluk - 30-8-2007 at 09:15 PM

I'll take a look into it, I thought about the evo but also thought about the water option. Not decided about the + or - though.

Ps- I wish it were because I was driking, that way, for the moment, I would actually think it were somewhat a possiblity!

Sthrasher38 - 31-8-2007 at 10:00 AM

They may all taste sweet, But I do not think they will taste the same.:puzzled:

Baluk - 31-8-2007 at 10:03 AM

haha, it's a joke, to get you to try it and the onion and patatoes taste disgusting!

Tridude, ah, oui oui. J'aime parle le fracais tojour dans le toilette.

(Tridude, ah, yes yes. I like to speak French everyday on the toilet.)

Eh, lol. I can't talk in french that well but I can understand 50% of it when it is written and lil bit less or equal amount when it's spoken. Also, I can do a perfect french accent.

Cheers!

Yeah, that's one kite that's peaked my curiosity, seem to get it done quite well, just never seen one in person. Would love a go on one though.

Pablo,

Sweet kite indeed. Porcher marine sail, very stable, excellent lift and float, a quality kite throughout. Known for its abiility on snow but it was also sweet on the landboard! DaVinch and I did a deal and he has it now (X Air 10m) with his review coming! He has a pic of it on his website! Quite stunning in the air I must admit!

I've seen some crazy snowkiting vids with close to a minute hangtime using them, they've got to be more than capable, I know they're using complete nutbars on the vid to demo them and the pilots have mad skills, but still, to get that sort of air the kites have to be up to the job. This is the main thing that's sparked my interest.

Hope some day I'll bump into someone that'll give me a go, Always looking for quality gear to recommend someone. Still need a go on a Psyco III as well.

I have only had the Air Evo out a few times so far (all light wind days). So far, I'm impressed.

The build quality is top notch and it has a very simple bridle system. I'll make sure to post a full review once I get to fly it more.

Any chance I could get added to the list for the Pansh Ace? I'm in the market for a new kite and would love the opportunity to try before buying.

Not a problem Wind-Dave - you are after Sthrasher.

Just curious on the status of the combat and/or brooza

I currently have the Brooza and I'll be sending it out to Sthrasher sometime this week.

Nice! I will be waiting. Did you have fun with the kite? Hope so.
