I finally built them. Aluminum rails may flex too much...we'll see.
Those are my 7 year old son's legs in the photo.

True, I don't suggest using aluminum for the rails, but yours look solid and thick and therefore may work perfectly. Nice job on the nice spacers
and overall clean appearance.
