i am a complete novice and looking at buying a buggy and kite and have been offered a brand new peter lynn comp st and pkd buster 3.0m kite for
£343.66 from online store, or a second hand peter lynn comp xr with wide wheel kit for £250 o.n.o. and then buy the kite from online store at £124.95.
i am 14 stone and 5'11 and will mostly use the buggy on an airfield. which option is the best. is it worth the extra few quid to get the second
hand, stronger big wheel buggy, or get everything new for warranty piece of mind?

The XR buggy is pretty stout buggy and should'nt have any problems being used,
But for your peace of mind
ask about if the XR has a set of fresh bearrings for the wheels, also what shape is the seat in and how much tires are left for you to buggy with
make sure you have either another person check out the welds for cracks or tell the online store that if you happen to find any cracks after you get
it home that you'll be returning it.
Others things to check out bent rails or axles,
but like I said the XR is built alot stronger than ST. and should give you plenty of hrs in the seat.

its a friend of mine thats selling the xr so i know hes only had it a few months. the tyres are nearly new and he has the original skinny tyres too.
there is a slight bit of surface rust around the top of the front fork connecting bolt as he has been using it on the beach. the seat looks good
albeit a bit dirty. i wouldnt have thought it needs any new bearings yet. how much abuse do these buggies get. would a lard arse like me struggle in a
st buggy and risk snapping it?

Salt and sand is not a problem for the bearing as long as he wash the buggies off after he use it but if he dip the buggy the water and, didn't
clean it won't be long till you will hear cracking comming from a wheel bearing.
Rust is no biggy the frame is stainless steal it will clean up but not by it self
They can take alot abuse if you keep your gear clean.

Hi Jase
I'd offer Mr Matey £225 for the XR and Ebay / Onlineshop the parafoil
I have been using an original PL comp for about 8 years now with only the bearings changed and a new rear axle at about 6 years of use (not sure of
the quality of the newer Comps though - made in China supposedly?…)
So go XR (as this will be more likely to last - and you can 'guilt-trip' Mr Matey should anything 'pop' and see how much you can get the 3.0m PKD
Buster for (Check Ebay - I'm sure there's 1 or 2 on there NOW)
That's my tuppence worth anyway - above all remember "It will all click if I just keep practicing"
