Was at San Luis Pass saturday camping out. Made a nice long run to the east, and then turned around. Was cooking along pretty good on the return
trip... checking out my wife's new kite. When I catch something out of the corner of my eye... here a zing-SNAP and watch the kite crash into the
ground.
Seems a little kite was put up... tied on by the water and let waaaaaaay out with the line arcing low over the dunes. Needless to say it went
through my spectra like butter. I did'nt even see it until too late... man, I hate it when that happens.

I think Jellis holds the record at SLP for going thru 3 sets of lines in one day. ............aj

Why is that, that lines on a cheap single liner will cut through Spectra or Dyneema so easily? I heard about it before, but I don't know why...

The cheap stuff is not cutting the line it is melting the line from what I have been told from the fiction. So stay away from those cheap kites with
the cheap lines.

Happened to me at the park but i did it to my own kite (i have kevlar bridles on my NPW) and i my friend was flying my foil and i did a jump and came
down on my nice new spectra lines and (duh) it cut them but i only lost about 3 feet so i just tied the loops on and it flies fine just 3 feet lower.

I did the same dang thing two years ago!
Was flying a couple one-liners in my pasture, decided to play with a 2.2 Symphony...
Making some nice turns, forgetting how small our pasture is..Zing!
And no one to blame, I did it to myself!
Took out one side of the two liner, and the cheapie Wal Mart kite just wobbled it's self back up to the zenith and rather smugly sat up there smiling
back at me...

I'm glad I'm not alone I just did the same thing. My daughter was flying her little single line next to me and I caught it with one of my lines
SNAP!! My line broke and her kite just kept on flying like nothing happened. atleast she had a good laugh.
