Rockville/Kite Trike Buggy seat attachment?

GulfSandEater - 7-10-2007 at 11:21 PM

I was able to buy a used Rockville Buggy this weekend! However, the instructions don't really show how to attach the seat to the frame. I've scoured the internet for close up pics but have as of yet come up with bupkis.

The front and middle attachments are intuitive. However, for the rear attachment, while I'm pretty sure the strap comes out the top of the seat side panel and curls around the frame, I'm not sure which buckle should be used to secure it. I've tried an attachment point close to the origin of the strap, but due to the angle between the buckle and strap, I hear a nice tearing of stitches sound as I start to put weight on the seat...obviously not doing something correctly. :puzzled:

Anyone with a Rockville willing to describe it for me, or even snap a quick photo of it?

Thanks!

Ah yes... The seat is a pain in tha a*s isn't it? I spent a good hour on mine last week! I thought I was a bright guy till that damn thing challenged me!

Look at the posts for seat replacements we were discussing last week for some useful info on the Rockville trikes weak points [seat clips, nuts on front wheel]

Send me your email address and I will send some pictures on what I did on my seat to correct the issues. I do not have picture hosting so I can't upload it to a post. If you do, please feel free to post it. I replaced the seat clips and used one of the straps for back support. The seat is now tight and safe!

Sent you a U2U Beachrights...would a appreciate your pics of your attachments, clips, and back support webbing routing.

Thanks for doing that!

Glad to here you got a bug---was watching the weather from time to time this week end----knowing there were buggy peps at SLP,
with the rains and the side winds ---just could not justify the 116 mile ride ----I have a kite trike---three times to the beach, and showing a little rust around bolt heads--welds.
the seat clips have already broke ((rear two).
will insert pict. got to get will reply some more latter.

Herb, is the buggy upside down in that picture? I think you are showing the use of the rear strap (which I thought was for attaching your kite bag) to secure the seat to the rear axel.

What about the side rails? I can't quite make out how the rear sides are secured to the side rails. Can you get a close up side shot?

Heres another pic---- they put alot of extra strap on these things ---you have to wrap and wrap--
I have not road in one of the Libre buggys---I here they are top of the line.. Kite trike rides alot better than my home made bug. one day might work up to the Libre V-max.

I'm attaching the same picture, but with the area in question circled in yellow. To which buckles do you have these rear side straps connected?

Thanks for the pictures, Herb.

Do yourself a favor, don't ride a Libra until you've got some extra $$$ in your pocket, It'll ruin you for life. And get no where near Jon's new bug with the front suspension.

I used to wonder how someone could spend that much on a bug, now I'm saving my pennies for a Hardcore. They coddle you. Stable at speed and you can hold a stupid amount of power.

Your seat is about 6 inches lower then mine. Do you have a problem with bottoming out?

treblehook - 9-10-2007 at 06:15 PM

not on the flats ---just in some of the ruts in the beach caused by rain drainage.
