NEW KITE

AK.Davies - 17-10-2007 at 07:03 AM

I have a sting 2.4m and an ATB, I want to upgrade to about a 7m kite but not sure which one to get, i'm just under 10 stone but need a kite that has a high rate of turn and delivers big air? A kite that has been designed around a bar would be awesome preferably depowerable complete with a harness.

What is everyones definition of 'pop'?

The Montana 3 will be out soon. The 7m is a sweet kite. Others to consider are Ozone Frenzy/Manta, Air Evolution, Flysurfer. Of course factor in your budget. The Montana is the least expensive sail (but awesome quality), the Flysurfer being the most expensive but the most versatile of the 4. The Pulse or Psychos give you water, snow, and land options. All mentioned kites come ready to fly minus a harness. "Pop" as defined by kite pilots is the "snap" during the intial phase of the lift or boost. Some prefer pop or snap, others like the smoother lift. I perfer the "pop" especially on smaller sails since they are the ones that will catch you out faster. Its a precursor to let you know things are about to get "crazy"!
Nice thing about your location is you can set up a demo and have alot of fliers/kites in the UK. If you can, try before you buy! A big step up from a 2 liner to a depower. Your local kite dealer can help you with the basics. Good luck, fly hard and safe!
