but she flew!! Inflation wasnt bad either and a low wind reverse launch no problem!

that P3 looks amazing. Great photos. I have p2 10m myself.
Tridude, how;s the 4 line setup compared to 3 line setup on P2? from your point of view.

BeamerBob - 17-10-2007 at 11:41 AM

So, what was the little bitty kite beside the beast? That thing is HUGE. Does it take a minute to inflate but then stays inflated better in gusty conditions?

tridude - 17-10-2007 at 11:48 AM

B,

Ive never flown a P2 so I can t honestly comment. I assume you may have less fusing with the main lines. It may or may not have effect depower. Powerzone would know for sure. I thought the P2 was a four liner. I know the earlier Voodoo is a 3 liner and its a fast, grunty kite. I think it was the beginning of the now Pulse line (voodoo, extacy, pulse, pulse 2).The P3 has the 5th line FDS safety which Ive learned to not tangle but the LLCs make any tangle/crossed line easy to fix.

The itty bitty kite is, believe it or not, the Blade IV 6.5:o Inflation was bad at all. Winds were 7 to 8 mph!

BeamerBob - 17-10-2007 at 11:51 AM

Well, it is only a tip. It would be a great perspective to see the two set up side by side.

Yeah, the little bity kite does indeed look itty bitty. I noticed the Blade IV 4.9 looks small at the tips and looked smaller than my Quadrifoil XL. The Blade has a higher aspect ratio.

I'd like to get my hands on a Flysurfer 17 or 19 meter ultra light model for the light weight winds.

the Psycho2 was an on-off type kite. it had lots of power, lots of lift, but the windrange was very limiting. thus it felt either on or off.

super stable, but lots of downwind pull and seemed to sit right in the powerzone.

slow turning, especially the large sizes. safety was mildly effective. nothing like the FDS.

Leading edge zippers and trailing edge OverPressureValves worked ok... but have been improved on the new 06 kites.

the pulse2 looks like the zipper is on the bridle skin and the Valves on the tip skin.... at least that what it looks like in the photos.

the 3 line setup was "cleaner" but it put so much stress on the one-and-only main line that it was breaking, so they upgraded the line to what looks like small rope that had lots of drag.

the "Multi-Wac" was cool to have more tweaking available than previous kites, but the new MIXERTEST style tuning enables more user customization and IMO is way more effective.

so far, nobody has successfully MODDED a P2 to the Pulse style mixer... but i would love to try, i dont have any p2 kites so if someone wants to "donate" a p2 for a month to experiment on, they may just get an awesome modded kite for free.......

let me know if there are more p2 questions i forgot to address.....

Great pics! How low was the wind?

Baluk - 17-10-2007 at 02:38 PM

The wind was 7/8 mph according to his post over at RK.

powerzone,
you seem to know a lot about P2's
so if I did donate it to you for a month, what could mode with it?
BTW, do you think if I sell P2 10 m and get Montana 2 9.5 m, is it going to be worth it or not?

powerzone - 18-10-2007 at 07:56 AM

maybe we should start a new thread about just Flysurfers, Mods, etc.... we all keep getting on tangents in other peoples threads....

but to answer you quickly... the mod would be a better depower similar to the pulse or psycho3 kites.

we could put an FDS on as well to improve the safety.

as far as the P2 vs Montana2.... i prefer closed cell foils for stability and performance. and of course the water-use option. they feel like nearly the same kite but with the jetflaps and overpressure valves.... the p2 still beats the M2.
