Looking for ideas with regards to speedometer for my buggy. I know alot of people use the handheld GPS and they run about $100.00 but does anyone
have other ideas that are less expensive?

Bike speedos, the magnetic type, glue the weight to the buggy rim, you need one that you can adjust for tire size/height though.

The bike thing would work but i was just thinkin... do you have an anemometor? If so maybe make a bracket and the wind of you moving would move the
"prop" and give a fairly accurate speed. And since you are moving with the wind it shouldnt effect it. Unless you are going up wind... well maybe not
idk... worst case senario=reads a higher speed and you get more bragging rights. LOL!

I use wireless micro cateye.$50 never had any problems with them.I abuse my buggy all the time with nice long wipeouts.So far I only lost one magnet
from rim as I didn't glue it down.

I use that same unit on my Mt. Bike. Very clean installation with no wires.

Do you have headlights on your buggy? I mean I like to buggy but...i just have boundaries and night buggying is one of them. Maybe static flying but

I use the Cat-eye wired models on both my PL and Flexi. They are only about 20-25 bucks but I do have trouble with the wires getting chaffed.
For the magnet, which is meant to be mounted on a spoke, I use an "L" shaped cup-hook with wood-screw threads. Drill a pilot hole in the rim (away
from the tube, please) and it is easy to screw in and adjust the space to the sensor. Very secure.

For buggying at night I never use a light unless I'm around other kiters, and then just something like those little flashing red LED's so they can see
me. Your eyes will adjust if the moon's out and you can see pretty good, if you have a light on your eyes will adjust to the light and you'll never
get into night vision mode.
Bright coloured kites help.

Here you go. Here is the "L" shaped brass cup-hook screwed into a pilot hole in plastic rim. The magnet with set screw mounts to the crook in the
hook as if it were a bicycle wheel spoke.

also to mount the magnet w/o having to drill into the rim is to cut the backside off the magnet and apply some shoe-goo to the magnet on the out side
of the rim {it birngs it closer to the pickup}
i ran my wires into the down tube via small 1/4 drill hole and use seated O-ring that keeps the wire form ware & tear, then use the adjustment
hole on the down tube to run one wire in each to mounting bracket and once again shoe-goo that as well for a low profile look

thanks for the info again..... I ordered a Cat-Eye wireless model from a friend of mine who owns a bike shop. Cost $33.00 and should work fine, I
hope..... So all I have to do now is hook it up when I get it in a few days. So any additional info or suggestions as far as hook-up goes... thanks

JOn's Right. GPS is the way to go! Plus you get a bunch of other features you can use. My Garmin gives me tide schedules, plotted out maps of my
ride, average speeds, top speeds, etc. Plus, It don't even need to mount it. I can just throw it in my pocket and look at it later.
