Video camera mounts?

1oldkid - 1-11-2007 at 06:45 PM

Lookin' at some of the video's posted here and how good they are got me to wondering...
What kind of mount to the buggy is a good set up?
Some of the forward looking shots that show the kite and the buggy front end are pretty cool to watch.
How's it done? :puzzled:

I don't know what camera you are thinking of, but I have one of these and it comes with a variety of mountings. It's ok - quality is not great but cheaper and less to worry about than if you're thinking of mounting a real camcorder to your buggy.

I've got a few videos from on my buggy in some of the clips here:

Was thinking of using a small Canon DC100, not sure if it would work for taking videos with while I'm rolling along...it has image stabilization, but only to a certain point.
It has the tripod mounting holes in the bottom side, but I'm curious to know what kind of clamp or bracket are being used to attach to the buggy..:puzzled:
Looks like most of the smooth running videos are on beaches (haven't found one in Idaho yet) or flat dry lakebeds.

After thinking about it, my camera uses the small mini disks to save pictures on; it may not be good for it to go bouncing along the terrain..hmmm. The wife may get a bit upset if I go messing up her new camera!

The one you show in the link looks interesting; I better do some more checking.

Nice videos-
Thanks for the reply khooke!

Looks like the helmet cam may be a good easy way to mount it and avoid most of the vibrations. Just gotta remember to look at your kite once in a while.

Yeah, and the price seems reasonable.

Wife thinks it might be a good investment, says their paying big money on Funniest Home Videos.

What's she tryin to say...:P

Hey Popeye -
That's good stuff!
What kind of camera do you use?
I would need one that would tolerate LOTS of impact! (I still crash my kite once in awhile...)
The view from the kite was different...kinda cool...where does it fasten to? (or how)

In the last video was that a beach? it looked more like a dry lake, man it was huge!
