Need a new one for landboarding and downhiling and jus wanna know what you think about full face helmets and/or what you use :puzzled:

six six one seems to be popular. I use the predator Ducati. Protect is good too!

Charly makes a really nice light glass/kevlar helmet with a removable chin guard. The super light weight is the big draw for me, it's only 600g. Almost any hang glider dealer will have one for about $100 (65 Euros?). The only drawback might be the absence of venting.

Used a regular bicycle crash helmet for years until I had a couple of OBEs in the buggy and kept getting hit on the back of the neck with the buggy. Decided it was time for a full face after that point. 661 works fine for me. Gets a bit hot and sweaty in the summer though.

i use the sxp protec helmets and they cost 40 and protect well.

I use a motocross HJC CL-X3. Pretty much any motocross helmet will do well.
Most of them have really nice ventilation systems and the adjustable visor helps with blocking the sun. Full face is definitely the way to go as I saw my best friend get popped out and he did a face plant.

The other thing about them is since they are made to take a motorcycle crash, buggys and boards are nothing to them. They also have to pass a stringent set of standardized safety tests to get DOT or better yet SNELL certified.

I have had my buggy whip around and whack me in the head and the helmet took it without even leaving a scratch.

SO their's my 2cents. :D

Cheers

That is a good looking helmet Mikey!

I've been using the ipod lately and I was thinking about getting a Giro snow helmet with speakers built in. I think some are even wireless.

so would you still recommend regular bike helmets??
or just upgrade when you have a buggy?

Santa left me a Giro Fuse w/speakers (not wireless) - sounds pretty good

Still need to find out if it's warm enough.

Cracked my Giro bike helmet clean through on an OBE this morning. Sad for the loss but grateful for the protection. My winter reserve helment will be my SixSixOne Full Face.

NPWfever - 1-1-2008 at 02:52 PM

I use my ski helmet, great as it has tons of vents so you can use it in 90* weather. And its super tough.
