In light of some recent events, we have decided it is time to restate the mission of the Power Kite Forum. The best way to do this is to explain
exactly what the PKF is and is not. In doing so, we merely hope to clarify the vision and purpose of this forum. Please read carefully.
What the Power Kite Forum is:
PKF is a free, non-affiliated, international resource for kite traction enthusiasts.
PKF is an open, friendly and supportive community that encourages the sharing of knowledge.
PKF is an ever-growing database of product and kite sports information.
PKF is a limitless resource with no bandwidth, disc space or database size restrictions.
PKF is a privately funded website moderated by volunteers.
What the Power Kite Forum is not:
PKF is NOT a free marketing site for commercial business owners to promote their stores or sell their products.
PKF is NOT a link farm for business owners or forum-masters to pimp their websites.
PKF is NOT a meeting spot for exclusive groups to hold private discussions that do not benefit the greater membership.
PKF is NOT a US or a UK forum. PKF has an international audience who's diverse cultures deserve tolerance and respect.
PKF is NOT a platform for venting personal opinion on controversial topics.
PKF is NOT a place to pad one's ego. The best posts are made from a place of sincerity rather than hype.
PKF is NOT a place for name calling, public bickering or launching personal attacks.
We ask that everyone take a moment to reflect on the mission of this forum. The PKF is known for being a helpful community. We may embrace this
tradition by treating one another with respect.
We kindly ask that all PKF members review our updated forum rules before posting:

So you only want to enforce certain rules? It seems to me that you have become to much of a mod lately. This WAS a spot that we could discuss topics
but it seem that you only want to hear from certain people and deleate the others is not fair!...........aj:flaming:

Good point. We intend to enforce all the rules without being intrusive. We don't want to over-moderate and hope that a well-defined set of rules will
allow everyone to moderate themselves. On the other hand, when tempers flare, seems our rules go right out the window.
Regarding the recent issues... we take no sides and have only responded to complaints. When posts are removed, we TRY to remove all the posts that
have clearly gone off-topic.
We have no problem with debate here, however, name calling and bickering is not debate, is it.
A new set of rules has been developed to help clarify what we look for when moderating. Please review our updated rules before posting:

I've only been around a little while, but I'd like to say that I'm suprised by how little the problems are here. With close to 2600 members, all
flying different flags from around the world (and flying the banners of many kite manufactures too), you all seem to get along very well and are
respectful of each other.
I think the mods should be commended for stepping in once in a while to stop the odd playground pushing match. I don't think it curtails the fun we
have exchanging stories and view points.
However, I also know that some of the most valued opinions on this board are coming from people who work in the kite industry. Competition is healthy
and I hope that we never see any overt effort to silence a particular voice, based on a commercial turf war.
nuff sed,
Dean
