Pass the Pansh 2--4M Ace

tridude - 8-12-2007 at 08:44 PM

Anyone intrested flying the 4m Ace? Id like a go or 2 more in bigger winds then send her out. Lets give BeamerBob first dibs since he's 2 hours away. If he passes, the list will proceed in thread order! This kite is not recommended for use by beginners. By volunteering for the program, you assume all responsibility for saftey inspections prior to use and also assume responsibility for any bodily harm or injury incurred while flying. Kite killers and helmet are highly recommended/encouraged. Fly hard and safe!

Man, we are in tune with each other for sure. I was thinking how logical that would be for me to have it first since I'm so close. I certainly would like a shot at it. I have gotten a few random days in the last few weeks so there is wind from time to time locally. I would love the opportunity.

Any line rigging tips? I fiddled with the 5 for almost an hour before I got the brakes loose enough. I guess the 4 likes loose brakes as well?

Do you think you really would need to send the handles? I would just move a handle/lineset to the 4 while I flew it. I assume everyone else would do the same? Are the handles that came with it suitably constructed? The ones that came with my Blaze had cheap line for leaders and ragged drill holes with no bushings for the leaders to pass through. I've heard the lines are better but haven't heard crosstalk on the handles.

Thanks Tridude for the share.

You got it Bob, U2U your info. I have it rigged on the last knot out for brakes and second knot in on powers. When the wind picks up I move the powers back to the third knot. The handles have sleeves/bushings to prevent leader chaffing.

stevep - 9-12-2007 at 08:50 AM

i would like to give it a go not to far from bob im in clearwater florida

tridude - 9-12-2007 at 11:06 AM

Steve,

You got it, #2

stevep - 9-12-2007 at 03:57 PM

great cant wait

Sthrasher38 - 9-12-2007 at 05:42 PM

Can Sthrasher be 3rd? I just sent off the 5.0 Ace The wind was pretty strong for that size. So I would like to try the 4.0 To see how well it does it would really help to see what a difference that size makes.

tridude - 9-12-2007 at 05:51 PM

Thrash,

You're #3. Its been a while since I flew the 5 but the 4 is faster and is a bit on the snatchy side! Its def alot of fun to fly!

Sthrasher38 - 9-12-2007 at 06:05 PM

Thanks tridude, I can't wait to try it. I may have to get one of these. Steve let me know when you need my address.

tridude - 12-12-2007 at 07:03 AM

Kites out tomorrow to BeamerBob! If anyone else is intrested let me know and will update the list. BB, Ill have it posted sometime in the afternoon. Thanx to TS Olga we've got an awesome swell going at Folly Beach (the whole SE coast actually) so Im busy tomorrow morning! Priorities yes?

BeamerBob - 12-12-2007 at 07:26 AM

We are forecast for 14 mph winds tomorrow. I'll have something in the air for sure. This will be 2 weeks in a row with flying. A record since July. I had two days in a row last week. I've been hankering for some Crossfire time lately so I might book a flight on it tomorrow. I look forward to trying out the Ace 4. With wind available, I could get to fly the Aces 4 and 6 at the same time for a comparison. It's a tough job but, well, you know.:)
Angus, what's it called again? Product testing and evaluation?:smug:

tridude - 12-12-2007 at 10:05 AM

A side by side comparison, nice! Look forward to hearing the results!...........and nice avatar too! Im betting the CF can hang with the 6m Ace! Not alarming but keep your eye on the 4. When the wind gets up she does get a lilttle snatchy!

I had not looked at the picture before. The yellow and blue look fantastic. The red cell bracing looks orange coming through the yellow.

Wonder if Pansh will ever command the respect given to the "real" kitemakers. I think they have really stepped up in the 7 months I've been involved with power kites. Last spring people were somewhat embarrassed to have one in their quiver but couldn't help themselves at $99 shipped. Now it seems that lots of us have one or two or 20.......... Hehe.

Sthrasher38 - 12-12-2007 at 05:21 PM

Bob, Be careful with the 6m it can lift pretty easy in the right wind so wear a helmet and hang on safely. I flew the 5m last weekend and it popped me off the ground in around 12mph wind.:borg:

BeamerBob - 12-12-2007 at 07:44 PM

Well, the 5 lifted me very easily and sat me back down with little input about how high I was. I had to ask my son. He said he couldn't reach my feet. I didn't move more the 5-6 feet across the ground, just up and down tea bag. In similar winds I would definitely wear a helmet with the 6. Well, any winds I think it can lift me in. I bought a helmet for just such an occasion. I have my in line skate pads I don't wear for that anymore too for the knees and elbows. My timid side would kick in with a new bigger kite. Start off in slow winds and work my way up as I get used to it. I'm interested in the contrast between the 4, 5, and 6 Ace and the CF 5. Oh the testing to be done. I might need to take some time off of work. Priorities you know.

Sthrasher38 - 13-12-2007 at 07:32 AM

Belive me I understand.

stevep - 16-12-2007 at 09:41 AM

hey bob let me know when u need address

Sthrasher38 - 16-12-2007 at 09:45 AM

Bob have you got the 4m yet?

BeamerBob - 16-12-2007 at 01:34 PM

Not yet. Tri was going to send it out Thursday I think. It'll come on Monday (work address) I imagine. I flew today and was afraid to fly anything more than the 1.5 profoil. It was howling. The WC says gusting to 26 while I was out. I believe it. The 1.5 was yanking me all over the place. It likes to power up big time down low in the power zone while it seems to be in a luff then you see the canopy get tight and you better hold on! I really wanted to get out the CF but HQ says its limit is 24 and that means my limit is a little less than that.

Sthrasher38 - 16-12-2007 at 03:28 PM

It is always the same, To much or not enough. I did find out one thing today. That being under-powerd Sucks. I still have alot to learn about wind direction aslo. And have various places to fly when its blowing certian directions. I did get to do a little scouting today so that was good.:cool2:

Sthrasher38 - 22-12-2007 at 04:57 PM

Bump. Any update on this one?

BeamerBob - 23-12-2007 at 06:57 AM

No receipt of the 4 yet. I assume Tridude just hasn't let it go yet or it's on its way.

Sthrasher38 - 27-12-2007 at 08:19 AM

Ok just let me know.

Sthrasher38 - 28-12-2007 at 02:52 PM

Sthrasher38 - 29-12-2007 at 12:01 PM

Sthrasher38 - 4-1-2008 at 02:01 PM

stevep - 4-1-2008 at 02:15 PM

BeamerBob - 4-1-2008 at 02:24 PM

Tridude hasn't been here since the 31st. He could be out of town or something. I'm sure everything is fine and he will jump back on the wagon err uh board as soon as he gets online.

Sthrasher38 - 5-1-2008 at 03:14 PM

Man I wish I could have been on vacation since the 31st.:borg: Tridude has been here today I just seen his name on members who visited today! I hope he posts.

Sthrasher38 - 14-1-2008 at 06:38 PM

We may have to give up on this one It has been awhile. Has anyone heard anything?

BeamerBob - 15-1-2008 at 05:10 AM

I sent him a U2U several weeks ago. Nothing. I had almost forgotten about it. Very unusual that Tridude would start this and then just drop it. He last posted 10 days ago. He is on every once in awhile, but no response to my U2U or to inquiries on this thread. Certainly no kite.:(
Something must be up in his personal life to drop away so suddenly like this. Lets hope everything is ok.
