UPS delivered my Christmas present today. (Fast shipping, thanks John!) The one I bought for my self (that’s selfish).
For those of you who have ”been there”, you might get a kick from this;
My wife saw the email from Powerzone saying: “kite was shipped”.
So she say’s “ You bought a kite?”
“Yup” I say from the other room while watching TV…
“How much was it?”
“$1750.”
“WHAT, you’re kidding right? You mean $17.50…”
“No, seventeen hundred and fifty…”
…….silence…..” My Gaud, for that kind of money you better fly it a lot!
“Thanks honey, I’m planning to.”
Took it out with just enough daylight left to get a look at it in my slightly snowy pasture late this afternoon.
W:wow:W! Larger than it looked in the picture…
So I have it drying out in the basement with the floor fan blowing into the back zipper, it puffs up like a big ol’ cocoon…
Well, the basement room isn’t big enough to lay the whole kite out in, it has to share room with sewing tables, TV, racks of books, treadmill, file
cabinet; you know the basic stuff that always ends up in the basement… and now she’s fretting a bit that she can’t get to her new sewing machine…!
She wants to know if anyone has an apartment I can rent..:frog:

You are going to love it! That thing is a low wind dream machine
Please let us know how the first flight goes.
You only need about 6 mph of wind to fly it and at 10 - 12 get ready

lucky you
for the price, tell your wife that you can probably sell this the same price in 1 year from now

I actually laughed out loud while reading the transcript! Did you tell her
how much money you saved by buying a used one?
1oldkid - 14-12-2007 at 09:01 AM
Yes, I did. She was not impressed.
I’m very thankful she got her new sewing machine first. I think that helped.
Will let you know how the first flights go, hoping to try it out during the holidays.
And I see there is something in my Christmas sock, the shape of which looks similar to the size of a camera…hmmm….there may be a way to redeem myself
here.
We’ll see what the video’s turn out like.
Someday we may look back on this and laugh as she’s cashing that big Funniest Home Video check , at the very least it will make for great entertainment here!

Did you get a chance to fly it yet??
1oldkid - 19-12-2007 at 02:27 PM
No darn it! Had some meetings out of town since Monday.. Just got back this afternoon...:duh: jet lag...
Hope to have some time with it this weekend, we have some snow/rain forecast, hope it drops some much needed snow in the hills!
Heading up to my Dad's either Friday or Saturday for Christmas, and taking all the kites too, maybe will get a chance to kite ski on the friendly
Montana ranch! :D

How's it going with the 19m SA2 1OldKid?
leebrianh - 5-1-2008 at 02:47 PM
Welcome to SA family You are going to love it! If it's used, it
might have tendency of overflying. If so, mixer adjustment will do the trick. Let us know how it flies.

I flew that crazy white kite today.
Winds were only 8 mph and I was cruising (did 20 miles total) the frozen lake with ease...such a sweet ride

Paul Berube in Ontario posted a nice youtube video using the SA2

Very cool video. Looks like so much fun. I wonder what the wind speed was to get him going like that.
DenisLaMenace - 6-1-2008 at 09:14 AM
looking at the flag floating into the wind at the beginning of the video, it's above 10 knots, and Paul is only 150 lbs
so he is well powered with the SA2 in these conditions.
