just started to power kite and need some advise

Hi, everyone. I have been flying a radsail 3 meter in all weather conditions and i can make it do anything i like , but it will not lift me i weigh 15 stone , So i have just bought a parish 6 meter now that has no problem lifting me. The problem i have is that i have flown it 2 and craped my self both time, what scared me was there was no way i could use the brake lines as i do on my 3 meter. The kite killer broke and to land it i had to let go of one handle. I think it might have been a bit to windy. I have been looking at the bars are they better for my size kite and which one. many thanks.:D

Your power lines are more than likely too tight. If it was only like 10-15mph wind then it should have been just about right but if there was an insane amount of power your powers are for sure too tight, this would also explain the no brake situation. Did you tie knots on your power leaders? If so the knot is too far back, move it up. Do you have the brake lines on the power leaders? The setup should be:

Green lines to red bridle leaders and red handle leaders
Red lines to black bridle leaders and blue handle leaders.

I know it seems backwards, confuses alot of beginers.
And if you do get a bar for your Pansh make sure you get a crossover bar (google it)

Yes,
One of the problems with Pansh is that their linset is usually not perfect off the shelf. + they don't supply instructions. It can be aggrivating to a nubie.

1st confirm that all 4 of your line sets are the same length. The thinner back set can be just a bit longer as long as both match each other.

Next they should hang with a slight arc when no brakes are applied. If they are too tight the kite will not fly up to zenith. If they are too loose ( like it sounds for you ) then you won't be able to bak the kite down when brakes are applied.

Check your lines on occasion after as well. They tend to stretch.

A 3m kite isn't really designed for jumping !!!!!

I had the same situation once. It wasn't that the brakes didn't work it was that I physically couldn't pull the brakes to apply them. Now if I have that situation I move my hands down the handle some. So instead of my hands being at the top of the handles ( which is where they were when I couldn't apply the brakes ) I move down about a finger width or two at a time till its easier to apply the brakes. I get it to where my hand is almost basically a pivot and the power lines help pull the brakes for me. I hope this makes sense and someone please let me know if this is totally the wrong way to fly.

Every time I've had to do this, I had too much kite out and was kinda in trouble already. If the kite pulls so hard you have to do this to be able to keep the brakes on enough, you probably should wait for the wind to slow down or get out a smaller kite. I really don't enjoy superman maneuvers.

I'm not sure I agree with you. Big kites are hard to brake period. That is why they have invented pulley handles.
I find that with my 7 and 9m I often have to move my hands down from the proper One finger above the fly line grab too the bottom when I'm just powered up perfect ? What you suggest applies more to 5m and down I think?

Your assumption is correct. I have only flown an 8.3 PL Reactor once and it was barely enough kite for the wind. It seemed to respond to the brakes like I was used to. Do the pulleys magnify your braking power or how much line you can pull in when applying the brakes?

I'm glad its not just me. Ever since that happened to me I've been hitting the weights. Oh and I did have too much kite out for the wind conditions. At the time I only had 2 kites to choose from. thats the disadvantage of not having a good selection of different size kites. You are either underpowered or overpowered and neither of those is any fun.

Cheers for the advise, I think both time i took it out it was to windy as it lifted me straight up i wish i had a camera and put it on you tube. Does anyone know any site where there are videos of how to fly powerkites or on youtube. dlish89 that is my kite in your pic looks good.

that is a pic of a Pansh ace. Do you have an ace or do the radsails look similar ? and I agree they are a good looking kite.

I have a ace 6m red and white and a blue and white radsail 3m. The radsail has vents alone the hole front and is fun for tricks and sounds good when flown fast ,cant wait to take it to the beach. As for the pansh it just looks great when in the air and as you know only has vent along half the front. Becaues i do not know that much about kites.

Cheers mate just had a look all i can say is they have big balls. they hold them kites with no problem has that got anything to do with using a bar. do you know of any sites with static jumping advise.
