Simple quick instructions on how to build a super cheap stake. And easy to make a bunch as backups.

Also some golf balls have a kind of rubber band that will come apart if cut into

Or you can get tent pegs from an outfitting store, Army Navy surplus or even home depot. They come as both long metal nail type pegs or plastic. Both work well and both are cheap.

Yikes! It must have been your shop teacher rather than your history teacher! I think a shop teacher would be more understanding :)

Definitely not something to have in your carry-on luggage while going through security: "Seriously, Mr. TSA-man! It's for kite-flying, I swear!!!"

You know what I find works just as well, and takes zero effort? Just go to Home Depot and pick up an 8" Philips #2 screwdriver. I spent a while wandering around HD looking for parts to build my own stake, and happened to go through the tools section. Saw the screwdrivers and thought, "well sh*t, there's a whole selection of pre-made stakes right here!" Like this, only longer:

If your not worried about the Color of the stake, (Or you are then spray paint it) buy a few 4'foot "Fiberglass" Driveway Marker" stakes w/without reflector, Cut it in half, sharpen 1 tip, "Bingo" 2 cheap, "STRONG", ligtweight stakes, Add anything you can drill a hole in & fit your brake loops over to the other end, personalize in whatever fashion you see fit...

:)
