15m Flysurfer Silverarrow 2

SecondWind - 20-1-2008 at 07:21 AM

I had the opportunity to fly a 15m Flysurfer SA2 yesterday

The winds were around 10 mph when I first set up.

The 15m definitely feels smaller & quicker than the 19m SA2.

It's beautiful kite!

The winds started to drop to around 7 mph in the late afternoon and I felt underpowered. I switched over the 19m SA2 and I was able to ski again with a good amount of power available.

My initial feeling is that I would still want the 19m for those really low wind days (10 mph or less).

The 15 feels like it would have a much better top end for me (I weigh 160 lbs).

I’m hoping to fly it again this weekend in some better winds.

Here’s a picture of the 15m SA2:

how does it restart if you crashed it? I was never able to restart pulse while upside down in low wind, had to run like crazy back.

USA_Eli_A - 20-1-2008 at 05:53 PM

look at the size of that kite flying. HOlly mowly! Aspect ration like 6:1? How much range does that have?

reverse launch for a pulse is quite easy.
just pull on rear line, and it starts turning.

in low winds, pull both rear lines hard, so the kite gets up enough and then let one line go, so it starts to reverse back upright

for a psycho and speed2, its the same technique as the pulse in low winds because of higher AR

yes the speed2 ratio is 5.9, a race kite.

it might happen in very low wind that you cant restart

check out youtube some videos on silverarrow + reverse launch

I just found the video about relaunching a silverarrow in light wind

The wind range is huge on the Speed 2s

The 15m SA2's normal range is from 8 - 29 mph on water.

Fantastic depower...

Nice onboard pics again DaV! Diggin those blue accents. Keeping the SA2 19 or going for the 15? So how does it boost? OBTW, post up some of those 8m P3 pics. When you get tired of that one, Ill take it!:o

SecondWind - 21-1-2008 at 05:12 PM

Tridude - it is a phenomenal kite  I flew it again this afternoon at the lake.

However, I'm going to stick with the 19m SA2 for those light wind days since it gets me going earlier (about 4 mph difference on skis).

DenisLaMenace - 21-1-2008 at 07:15 PM

Joe are you serious about the 4mph earlier???

so what is the low end for each of them on skis. can it be 3-4 mph for the 19m??

because yesterday, we were all waiting the wind, when the young lady (arounf 120lbs) using his father SA2 19m had barely started. maybe was the driver problem, she seemed having difficulty with this monster

just a few moment later, I was the second to start at the same time of a yakuza 8m and this with my P3 10m with on snowboard, and then all the LEI kites could start a few minutes after.

Buzz,

The 19m starts working for me at around 5 - 6mph and I was underpowered today with the 15m when the winds dropped to 9 mph.

I would try both if you can before you buy. I would like one of each

The top end for the 15m seems like it would be much higher.

SecondWind - 21-1-2008 at 08:19 PM

Buzz - you should see if you can try that 19m SA2 in your area.

DenisLaMenace - 21-1-2008 at 08:34 PM

Joe

I had the impression that low end for these kites were closer and you could fly these kites a bit differently

I tought that the 19m would be more of a park and ride type of kite

while the 15m could be a kite which turns a bit faster, and you could fly by making sins and create more apparent wind

I hope to try a speed2 (not SA) 15m next weekend if the wind permit. I am going to an event where a friend of mine will be and he bought one this summer.

take care with these beasts !!

So I had my first session on sunday with my silver arrow 2 15m that I recently got.

Joe, I wonder if this is the same one you had borrrowed ?

Sunday was a very light wind day, for a good part ranging between 5 to 10knots. So I decided to get on skis to get the max out of it.

I noticed then when the wind drops much, that the tips tend to deflate fast compared to my other FS. May be the kite is ready for the mixer test, or its because of the higher aspect ratio.

When there is enough wind, the kite is really fun to fly. There were some times, where I was the only one riding while the others were waiting some gusts and watching me.

Later on in the afternoon, the wind pick up about up to 15knots. Then it's park and ride, go fast, and smile.

Too fun and what nice looking kite all white in a sunny sky
