South Cooking Lake Kite Fest

Well, I missed yesterday but got to spend the afternoon out there today. Sadly not enough wind unless you were flying something massive like in the pics but quite a sight to see.

I've never seen so many Flysurfers at once! The pics hardly do the day justice.

I didn't realize there were people in the Edmonton area who had kites like this... I will definitely have to look harder when I move back in the fall!

DenisLaMenace - 27-2-2008 at 08:34 PM

Flysurfer Canada distributor is located in Edmonton

see it http://www.flysurfer.ca

WTrail - 27-2-2008 at 08:57 PM

Do they have an actual store in Edmonton? I can't seem to find one.

macboy - 27-2-2008 at 09:21 PM

No actual store to my knowledge but I THINK Pipeline might sell out of their shop. If memory serves me the local rep is Mike?

PrairieWind - 28-2-2008 at 08:36 AM

www.pipelinesurf.ca

The only "physical" store in Alberta.

Thanks for the link PrairieWind!!

What site do the Edmonton / Calgary folks use searching for used gear ? Flysurfer USA has used gear but not CA. ?
Being so close I would want to advertise my kites for sale there !

macboy - 1-3-2008 at 10:31 AM

I've befriended the classifieds on this site but there are some that visit the kitesource.ca forums (pretty big community in Calgary actually).

PrairieWind - 2-3-2008 at 08:03 AM

www.windsurfingalberta.com is one of the main southern alberta classified sites there is no forum, you just email bob with your info and he posts it. There is usually more kite stuff in the classifieds than windsurfing gear. "Bob's best bet" is the part to click on for good wind predictions in southern alberta.
It is only active in the spring and summer.

www.highasakite.ca has a classified section in their forum - that might work. They are mostly keho lake oriented.

There is some kite stuff in the classifieds at www.nawa.ca the northern alberta windsurfing site.

Bladerunner - 2-3-2008 at 08:32 AM

Thanks,

I joined Calgarykiteboarding as soon as it started but haven't followed it much. I don't see a 4 sale section so didn't think Jeff encouraged sales ?
Will I be O.K. posting for sale items on the Ed. and Cal. sites ??

PrairieWind - 2-3-2008 at 08:39 AM

High as a kite would have the most volume of people looking at it. There is clearly a for sale sticky on the highasakite forum.

You could email Jeff and see about posting a kite for sale on calgary kiteboarding. It doesn't get all that much traffic really.

Bladerunner - 2-3-2008 at 09:04 AM

I may try high as a kite ? Do you have a link ? When I search it gives me an Aussie site.

With Folks in Edmonton appretiating Flysurfer I thought they may like the Speed ?

PrairieWind - 2-3-2008 at 09:50 AM

the high as a kite link is in the previous post www.highasakite.ca dot ca not dot com

PrairieWind - 2-3-2008 at 04:23 PM

www.coastalbc.com/ads/kiteboard.htm

I know some of the alberta crowd also look at this classified site from out your way...
