Airline Kite Tube

dblcrona - 10-3-2008 at 05:31 PM

I am looking for some sort of tough plastic tube that I can use to transport kites on an airplane. Preferably something I can carry on with me. I would consider one that has to be checked too. Has anyone had any experience with this? The only kites I have ever taken on a plane are my power foils which collapse nicely into a small pouch. I'd like to take my stick kites along too but I don't want to risk breaking them.

Take a trip to lowes or homedepot . I also saw a pvc tube with screw on ends approx. 4 inches in diameter at the rv store for carrying rv sewer hoses. It came in like 3 different sizes. But I think your cheapest option is homedepot or lowes.

You could make a tube out of sewer pipe (thin wall) along with a threaded fitting and then a matching threaded plug. Less than 10 bucks and almost bullet proof. It would kinda look like a bomb though, so you might look at office or art stores for something used to haul drawings or paintings.

depending on how long it needs to be pvc is good but alittle on the pricey side i just went threw it pipe is 11.00 fittings for end with screw on it 22.00 and end cap on other end 10.00 if they are long enough to fit in a hard golf bag you can look at yard sales or pawn shops and pick one up for 25.00 and you can fit alot more than inside a 4" pipe just my opinion

I found a great drafting tube that is adjustable in length and comes in 3" 4" and 6" diameters.
