Hey guys, what is a good rope for replacing my Peter Lynn depower rope for my bar. Wanna make it longer.
Cheers

Use static climbing rope or tag line. Static rope is line that has less than 3 percent stretch. Dynamic rope will stretch and is designed to do so
under a load. Be sure to tie good knots

use AmSteel synthetic cable twelve-strand braided rope over a Dyneema 500lb inner-core for replacement. some kites don't use the core, but we
recommend it.
the core is so if/when the AmSteel breaks, your kite is still held by the core and won't fly away or surge the Brake lines.
let me know if you need some.

Hey guys - Great post. I have been wanting to swap out the rope on my Sabre2 for something a little longer too. Thank you...

Even better powerzone. Way to take it up a notch. That's some hardcore HD stuff there

Thanks guys.
Powerzone:
" is very slippery and will not hold well around cleats," regarding Amsteel. True? I need it to work in my cleatclam i just bought an Ocean Rodeo
Chicken loop with the cleat right there and wanna use it.
Will it work?

Decided to go with 6ft of Dynex 75 6mm and I may make the rope like on SLE kites, so its set-up as it was meant to with the OR chickenloop and
clamcleat with the two lines running together up to a pulley/ring.
I also got 3ft of Dynex Dux 75 9mm. looks good to me.

Fun to read. I sure wish I knew what in the world y'all were talking about. Maybe I will someday, if I just stick to it. This forum is a great
education!!

Dynex Dux and Amsteel are the same fiber, same braid. they are simply Trade names for the 12 strand synthetic cable, so oyou'll be good with either
one.

Thanks, I thought it looked similar, and I noticed it was 12 strand also.

Came in the mail today,
9mm and 6mm are both a lot thicker than I thought they'd be. Oh well, still work fine! 6mm works fine the Clamcleat.

If you can get a hold of some "Technora' of the same diameter, get it. Amsteel is made of Spectra, which has excellent strength and stretch
properties, but melts at a relatively low temp (which contributes to its poor abrasion resistance). Technora, on the other hand, is even higher
strength and stretch qualities, but has much better abrasion resistance. I switched my depower rope to Technora and got roughly 10x the lifespan out
of it (6 years vs. 6 months). The problem is that cover-less single braid Technora can be hard to find. I bought a decent supply at West Marine a
long time ago, at the time it was made by New England Ropes. Don't know if they still have it, might have to special order it now a days. Technora
is light tan in color, won't melt and can be difficult to cut (must use a fresh razor blade to cut it).

Well, I got my 6 foot 6mm one.... hooked it up like you would on an SLE Bar. One length from Chicken Loop thru bar to ring/pully back down thru bar to
Chickenloop with Clamcleat.
WORKS GREAT!!!
Clamcleat is now on the chicken loop [Ocean Rodeo.]
Fully out I have 3 feet of bar travel. Perfect amount and I can depower the kite completely without having to fiddle with the clam cleat at all! It's
so different and it's amazing.
Very glad I decided to do this.
