All the right gear ?

Bladerunner - 25-3-2008 at 08:39 PM

I'm packing and have some good news , some bad. Good news is that my wheels and blades fit in my max legal size suitcase ! Buggy in the ski bag. Im sure I'm overweight but that's O.K.. The bad news is that I don't think I have room for all the kites I'd like to take :ticking:

I have a 1.5, 3, 4.5, 5 fixed bridles and the 7m pulse in for sure.
It seems I need to choose between taking a 7m Bullet or 9m Blade :?::(:?: I've been told that large kites don't get much use. That the winds pick up quick. :o

If you had to pick would you go with the 9m or 7 :?:? ?

Thank you to the person who suggested removing all bolts , bearings and heavy items for carry on. It was amazing how much that stuff has added up.

Any other tips for packing tight and light for flying ?

That was the only way I could get the suitcase to close even in expanded set-up

i thought i was over packed

I have one bag from my full race, one for my clothes. My carry on, contains all my kites.

I've repacked all my kites with the lines and handles off. TSA didnt have a problem with lines and handles when they checked my carry on, however it does save space when you put your handles/lines with your checked luggage.

Going by Air Canada's website, you can take 2 checked luggage / 2 carry on / 1 personal article. but call to confirm though.

IMO, I'd go with the 7m

I say bring your bullet! I would love to see that Blade. But the Bullet will Imo be better than the Blade I think my bullet flies better by keeping me on the ground my Blade puts me in the air. But you know your kites thats just what I think. Don't worry I will have my 6.4 Blade2 if you want to use it so bring the Bullet.:cool2:

I wasn't sure about the second carry on. Now I know I have packed my full set of fixed bridles.

First timer packing up tonight. Gotta say that a protective golf club bag is very handy. I borrowed one from a golfer friend, made packing the bug and a bunch of kites very easy. The one I borrowed is made by a company called sun mountain - very sweet. I read about the golf bag on this forum somewhere...
