2500 Mason Street · San Francisco, CA, for three nights.....be good to meet some buggiers there, of course the wife wont know about this...lolelkiter - 27-3-2008 at 01:19 PM
Just give a holler when you're in town...would definitely like to meet you.
Are you bringing any of your bugs?
eBladerunner - 27-3-2008 at 03:58 PM
We can get some pretty great packages to S.F.
What dates will you be there ? For me, meeting up and riding with you would be a bit like when you caught up with Sand Yetti ! DAKITEZ - 27-3-2008 at 04:07 PM
I'm with e just give a shout ... I also would like to meet you.nhlrule56 - 28-3-2008 at 08:40 AM
Put me on the list too and I would like to meet all ya guys. I am not too far from the Bay Area and typically fly on the beaches near Bodega Bay.
If you are a Hitch#@%$#! fan you can visit the chapel where The Birds was filmed back in the day. It's not too far from S.F. in the town of Bodega.Primordial Wind - 29-3-2008 at 06:10 PM
There is a crew of buggiers and KGB'ers out of San Fran. that meets at OB regularly. Just U2U me when you have the dates and i'll meet you there as
well.Sthrasher38 - 30-3-2008 at 01:18 PM
Count me in! I should be able to make it in October. Just need some notice.USA_Eli_A - 30-3-2008 at 04:31 PM
oooo......sounds like a good reason to head south.....popeyethewelder - 10-4-2008 at 10:36 AM
Well, the holiday is a tour type thang, and we will be going to SF first for three days then Yosemite park, then onto LA and Vegas, its actually our
25th wedding aniversary trip, thats why I mentioned about the wife lol, she is so anti kiting/buggying...and so I am going to have to play it by ear
and see if we can incorporate a visit to the beach where the buggying takes place, obviously I wont have any gear with me, but if I can persuade her
to go I would love to meet some of you guys and blag a go in a buggy....I noticed Ivanpah is not far from LA....thats a double bummer for me being so
close yet so far....during the 12 night we are in the US, there are various trips included and these have to come first...but we'll see nearer the
timebarnes - 14-4-2008 at 01:51 PM
Tell her you should both go see the incredible dry lake bed (one of the 12 wonders of the world...) before its converted into an airport!gilligan - 14-4-2008 at 09:05 PM
Or a solar farm!flexiblade - 26-4-2008 at 09:29 PM
Sounds great to hear you're making a grand pilgrimage to our neck of the woods - even it is under other pretenses - I go by the handle waxphone on
youtube - I think if you are able to make it down to Ocean Beach there would be a good many folks that would be very pleased to meet you - and getting
a ride in a buggy would not be a problem. Keep in touch as things progress.
Just to let you know October can be hit and miss - the winds at that time of year are usually driven by storms unless the valley stays really warm -
but regardless it will be good to have you here. Keep in touch.popeyethewelder - 20-10-2008 at 10:55 PM
Well two days to go, we leave the UK Thursday (23.10.08) morning, and the wife has got that much planned for us its almost crushing lol...but I am
really looking forward to the trip, even got my Alcatraz tickets already.....what is looking more and more certain though is, a trip to Ocean Beach,
it seems to be getting harder by the day....how far is it from Fishermans Wharf to where you guys buggy, even if we have a spare hour in our agenda, I
would like to try to get out there.DAKITEZ - 20-10-2008 at 11:04 PM
Ocean beach is only about 8-9 miles from Fishermans wharf. You will want to get away for a little while after dealing with all the people at the
wharf. Be ready to spend about $30 to park at the wharf also. Ocean Beach has free parking and alot less people popeyethewelder - 21-10-2008 at 04:56 AM
I wont have a car, its an organised coach trip,I will be in SF untill Saturday, like I said though, I cannot unfortunatley guarantee a day or time or
even if I will be able to make it at all, all I can say for definate is I will be on the 6.10pm ferry to Alcatraz on the 24th Oct...there are other
trips that have been laid on plus theres the wifes list of things she wants to do....
even if I can get a taxi there for an hour, I will do, at least
to shake some hands and say hello
we then move onto Yosemite Park, LA then Las vegasragden - 21-10-2008 at 07:04 AM
What days are you going to be in Yosemite? Planning a trip out there in a couple weeks myself...wjb - 21-10-2008 at 08:48 AM
I got it.:eureka: You tell her you have heard about a great place to eat lunch. The Cliff house Restaurant. It just happens to sit above Ocean Beach.popeyethewelder - 21-10-2008 at 09:44 AM

Bugger, I wont be there until November. Maybe next time bud. Have fun!Windeavor - 21-10-2008 at 11:11 AM
Ivanpah is close to Vegas though. Tell your wife there is this beautiful lake you heard about and off you go. Primordial Wind - 21-10-2008 at 06:30 PM
The Cliff House Restaurant is a stop-over for tourist buses coming from the city and it may even be part of your itinerary. From there Ocean Beach is
a 5 minutes downhill walk. I would like to at least say hi to you but unfortunately I'm away on work assignment. Hopefully you get to at least see the
coastline and maybe get to meet some of the local kiteboarders there. You will also pass by the Ivanpah lakebed on your way to LA from Vegas. Have a
great vacation.SCREWYFITS - 22-10-2008 at 07:45 PM
Tell your wife you are an American Rockstar and all your fans want to meet you and get autographs...
Hope you have a great vacation no matter what you get to do... Enjoy yourself...
Hope to catch up with you, if not... next time...awindofchange - 23-10-2008 at 11:36 AM
Carl,
Let me know when you will be in Vegas, I would love the opportunity to hook up with you. We may be able to get some time to run out to the lake bed
and do some riding as well. I got all the gear and buggies so no prob.
Hope to see ya, let me know!USA_Eli_A - 23-10-2008 at 01:12 PM
your rockstar status is required in Oregon as wellSCREWYFITS - 27-10-2008 at 11:12 PM
Anybody catch up with Popeye down at SFOB???Sthrasher38 - 31-10-2008 at 08:14 AM
I dont think anyone went. The wind has been terriable around here lately. Like flexiblade said, Most the wind this time of year is driven by storms.
Today is Halloween and it is raining.popeyethewelder - 4-11-2008 at 11:32 PM
Well you were right about the wind, while I was in SF the sun shone but the mist and wind stayed away, sorry Kent, didn't see your message untill
after my return, Vegas was hot too (I rode the Xtreme ride at the top of the Statosphere, where it shoots off the top at 1200ft...brilliant) and I did
get to see the Ivanpah Lake bed as we drove to Calico, then Hollywood and LA, I did eventually get on the beach at Santa Monica, there were a couple
of guys there were flying a 2m kite static, I went and had a chat with them, and pointed them in the direction of the PKF.
Yosemite Park was an inspiring place, in fact your whole west was fantastic, including the Canyon, and the people were all extremely friendly, sorry I
didn't get to meet up with any of you guys, maybe some other timepopeyethewelder - 4-11-2008 at 11:35 PM
Bladerunner - 5-11-2008 at 05:22 PM
Now you know where Ivanpah is there is no excuse for you not to find your way back for NABX
You may not fully believe it but I think you would truly feel like a Rock Star if you showed up. Sthrasher38 - 6-11-2008 at 07:57 AM
BR, How do you like that skate wing? Welcome back popeye!! Sounds like you had a good time. I remember looking at them at Nabx last year and was
wondering how you liked it.awindofchange - 6-11-2008 at 02:04 PM
Shame that we weren't able to hook up together, so what do you think of our playground?
That ride on the Stratosphere is pretty awesome, takes your breath away for sure. I am glad that you had a great trip and we all hope that you can
head back this way soon, perhaps to spend a little more time with some kites.Bladerunner - 6-11-2008 at 03:20 PM
Sthrasher,
I'm still learning on the skatewing. I have found learning just a bit tough on the Coyotes. I had far better success on rollerblades. I hope to get a
lot of use from it over the winter on the sea wall. Once I am more in control I should be able to handle grass / sand that much better.
Skatewing is a bit different than the " kitewings / skimbats " you saw at NABX.
Fortunately Dirtslide has just picked up a Skimbat and dirtsurfer so we all get a taste of this new angle :wee:
I can't seem to transfer the picture of the skatewing from the gallery. It is under kiteskating. A picture of a kitewing is in the ATB gallery.Sthrasher38 - 12-11-2008 at 07:20 PM
Ah yes, I did get the two confused. Glad to hear you are trying new things. wind really sux around here barely getting any practice.
