Power Kite Forum

Hello, new here and ready to learn

Todd - 27-3-2008 at 06:10 PM

First off,

My son (13) and I enjoy the rush of power kites to no end. Every possible chance we can be found at Point Lookout State Park located in Southern Maryland doing what we love the best... flying.

I enjoy reading the forum and have picked up a lot that will be of great assistance. Joined on the 3rd of this month and probably would have lurked a little longer however the BestKite thread kind of stuck a thorn in my side. I hope for the best and give benefit of doubt; we'll leave it at that.

After doing some homework, I picked up my second buggy being a Libre Hardcore from Jon E. Thanks again Jon for all of the education. My first buggy was my son's and we only had a handful of runs before melting down the plastic bearings.

Weldngod, I see that you are close to us. Question, do you have an area to ride on the beach down there? I've made several calls to Ocean City along with Assateague State Park with little luck.

That's all for now folks,

Todd

welcome ! I hope the best for you with best kites.

Welcome! Love the video, but it isn't something for instruction manuals, flying right next to power lines is a no no, but it looks like you've got control down just fine.

We have a club down here in New Jersey, so if you ever make it down to Ocean City NJ, we'll be flying! Also leebrianh is in Delware, but he comes up to NJ to buggy, only surfing in DE.

Thanks for the welcome!

I knew the power lines would come up  they were dead and in the process of removal from the old light house. So far to date there has been two poles removed giving us WAY more room in the sky.

we've looked into NJ for a couple trips as well.

Welcome Freshskidmarks, Yeah I got a couple places to ride, and looking for more. But I would rather beg forgivness than ask permission. So if I don't see any signs saying otherwise,it's on! I was thinking about going to Jockeys ridge in NC, big dunes and ocean breeze! And that video proves you live out in bum#@%$#!ed egypt. I'm hearin' jeff foxworthy" you might be a redneck if you ever rode somethin with wheels and No brakes, while flyin a traction kite, on a 2 lane HIGHWAY! WITH ABSOLUTELY NO FEAR OF GETTIN KILLED! And nice kite handlin dude, w/ power lines there and all. You got balls , welcome aboard mate!
P.S. get some helmets!

If you're coming up to NJ, Wildwood is the best buggying beach, and one of the southern most beaches in NJ, so closer to you!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I do plan on Wildwood, is that year round? I can't see getting in some buggy time throughout summer months. Also looked into taking the ferry across, might be an less traveled route that way.

Loaded it on the car for the first time today, took some measurements and will build some more tomorrow.
