All Texans I'm new to power kiting and awaiting my new Profoil 3.5m and I wanted to know if anyone has any good kite fields in North Texas preferable
around the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. At the moment I'm looking for a place just to learn kite control, scud, and do some jumping but also am interested
in places where I would be able to do some landboarding and/or buggying around the Dallas area (within 100 mile radius of Dallas).
Any and all feedback is apprciated

Go to the links section of the forum and there is a Texas buggy site.:tumble: Plus Texas has the DBBB ( dead bird buggy bash ) and lots of other

thanks SFK I checked out some of those links which will be great for the summer and next year (when I'll either be at A&M or A&M Galveston)
but I was wondering if anyone had some info more specifically on North Texas kiting spots. I live in North Dallas and so anything within about 100
mile radius of Dallas/Ft Worth would be good for weekend day trips. Any other kiters around dallas?

google earth is my best friend for finding sites. I live in TX, too. I have been told that galveston, and padre island are the best spots in tx to fly
(and buggy). In austin, zilker park is big enough to learn, but i find myself wanting more. There should be some spots around The Colony, Plano, or
the general area that you could scope out. You dont need much room to learn if you are just static flying.. a couple hundred meters by about a hundred
meters is good enough. I dont remember any large parks in Dallas, but there have to be some around there.

I was in Dallas several times and remember if you ever got just outside of town, there were open fields with rolling hills. There has to be numerous
places just off the road not far from town. It is so flat there, any open field with no buildings upwind of you would be worth pursuing. Keep us
posted.

Almost any baseball field works great for learning as well... just hard to find an empty one this time of year. Big parking lots are a blast and
an incredibly fast surface... just not for beginners (as cement hurts).
I know there are quite a few kiteboarders up there, you could check with the local shop in the area... they usually have a grassy area they use to
train people on and might be able to give you some ideas/locations.

I only know of one buggier in the Dallas area. Send me a u2u and I will give you his email. I am sure he knows the best places.
If you are in the Austin area, Old Settlers Park is about the best place around. It is next to the Dell Diamond.

(aldoushoffman, welcome to this forum and look forward to meet you somewhere in Texas big state)
The biggest soccer field is at Breckenridge Park in Richardson and I was kicked out by maintenance supervisor/park administration while off season
playtime... He don't want any wheels on the manicure grasses. I told him that buggy rear wheels are not power driven and smooth while comparing alot
of soccer shoes with cleats on it torn up the grasses at all times. He changed the subject and bought up liabilities issue. Again, I told him that
nobody is around during off season, huh and am a member with AKA along with liability protection. Anyway, the next place is Elgin B Robertson Park at
Lake Ray Hubbard area which is very huge field but not smooth as the soccer field. Sometimes, they mow but not too often as to be aware of. Third
place is Texas Motor Speedway in north Fort Worth. Use on the far west side parking lot which are grass and gravel mixed. (all outside gates are
closed and need to go south side. Look for medical building on left then pass it to parking tarmac heading west). Fourth place, behind Flower Mound
high school just pass the football field which ideal for practice and not long runs only. Fifth place, still looking around 
I usually go down to West Galveston (SLP) only when wind prevails from southeast and nice weather. East beach from October thru
February with no crowd and closer to Galveston (the home of DBBB born there)
