Kite Buggy Instructional DVD

Lobo - 2-4-2008 at 12:49 PM

Is this "Power Kites - How to Buggy" DVD worth the money, or a waste of time?? I have noone close enough to get help from, so, in that case, would this be a help, or not?

http://cgi.ebay.com/How-To-Buggy-Kite-Buggy-School-Video-Pow...

Thanks!!

Save your money .. I have one I can send to you. It will just cost a couple bucks to send it back to me when you are done. Thats about all its worth is about $2.

Lobo - 2-4-2008 at 01:12 PM

I wondered?!?! Thanks dlish. I would enjoy at least taking a look at it and I'll get it back to you pronto.

How about this....could such a harness as this one be used in buggying (and static flying), or is it only suitable for waterboarding?:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=33022...

Or, does HQ make a good seat harness??

I don't have the buggy yet, but would like some "relief" while static flying, some staniding and some sitting, as though in the buggy.

And, while I'm at it, I've tried searching on ebay for a quick release mechanism. Any suggestions on where to purchase one, and/or what to purchase?

Thanks!

I got it this afternoon! Is that dlish on top of it, or what?!? Got it out before he left for NABX.

I'll get it out to you Monday.

Dlish....thanks for not letting me spend my money on this....I would have been very frustrated and upset with HQ! I guess I expected a little more. There is no talking whatsoever on the video. I thought there would be someone personally trying to show and give instructions.....you know, kind of like an "instructor" at "school".....I think it says on the cover "Kitebuggy School Video" The first half of the viedo is what HQ should send, free of charge, to everyone who buys a kite from them. It's just simple set up and flying of a kite.

It's not that it's a total wash....I reckon you might pick up something, but, I think I've read/seen all that it has, and much more, just searching and reading on the net.

I not usually negative, but, if you're interested in seeing it, just get on the mail list....don't spend your money on this one. I won't keep harping on it.....just, Thank You  for letting me know not to spend that much on this one!!

beachrights, it will be on the way soon. Let me know if I was a little too harsh....may just be grumpiness...'casue everyday I'm getting to be an "older farter" Ha! Aren't we all?!?!? Heh Heh

Lobo :singing:

PS - I hope I saw all there was on the DVD and didn't miss the real heart of it????:puzzled: If I did, I'll repent and sin no more!

DAKITEZ - 7-4-2008 at 11:59 PM

Thats what I said its only worth the amount to ship it. Glad I could save you some money. I guess since they never talk in the video that makes it multilingual :puzzled:

Lobo - 8-4-2008 at 10:28 AM

beachrights, it's in the mail Monday. It should see you soon!

dlish89, You were absolutely right. Thanks again for the advice and the loaner. I gotta go look around the forum and see folks thoughts on NABX!

What a snooze fest! I can honestly say I learned NOTHING from that DVD. It really could have been a good instructional tool if it had any sort of instruction other than how to make a larks head and info about the wind window. Quite disappointing coming from HQ- they make great kites but lost it on this one.

Thanks to Dlish and Lobo for passing it along. Beamerbob is next- put it on before bed and you will sleep like a baby:tumble:

Whew! Good to know I'm not just some crazy newbie without a clue as to what a good instructional DVD, that actaully costs you money, should include! Ha! :spin:

That DVD is just a joke?!?!? :puzzled:

I put many hours in with the buggy last week. I feel like I know enough now to be able to learn something about the buggy.

Bob.....I think you might as well not even open that DVD, and just send it right on home to dlish! Ha! Or....did you watch it, and not even realize you did...ha! You've got a whole lot more experience than the DVD does!

soccerflyer - 18-4-2008 at 05:01 AM

Ok, so I am supposed to get on the mailing list for the sucky beginner video. Actually will probably learn something from it. I have never flown a power kite ( YET) Dlish suggested I take a look at it. Who has it now? Should I u2u someone my address?

BeamerBob - 18-4-2008 at 05:05 AM

send it to me, since the video in on its way here and I can send it to you after I extract all the knowledge it beholds. :P

DAKITEZ - 18-4-2008 at 08:20 AM

Thanks BeamerBob for sending it on to soccer after you have unlocked all its mystical info.
Its been awhile since I have seen the video, but from what I remember they show about setting up and alittle bit about flying and the wind window. that info would be good for someone who has never flown before. But what they teach you about buggy'n you could learn more from watching a youtube clip.

Lobo - 18-4-2008 at 10:15 AM

You're right on Dlsih. I think it would be good if you've never touched a power kite or read much at all about it. Like I mentioned earlier, HQ really ought to include a littel cd of the that part of the cd in each kite they send out.

SCREWYFITS - 20-4-2008 at 09:28 PM

You guys... :lol:don't you know... :puzzled:

You have to play it backwards and it has hidden messages...

Freddie is the devil... Freddie is the devil...

Sit down, shut up and hold on...:o

You know the normal subliminal messages...:D

Lets make our own DVD... I know nothing about buggying (yet) but sounds like I could give more useful info than this DVD...

BeamerBob - 22-4-2008 at 10:02 AM

Ok, you guys have really made fun of this video, but for its intended purpose, it was at about 80-90%. If I knew nothing about buggies, and didn't have you guys to ask, it would educate on many of the basics. I didn't learn anything but it was reassuring that I always knew what was going to happen. An intermediate video would probably answer alot of the questions that come up after the first time you start rolling. They could've skipped the larkshead and line unwinding stuff and maybe do a section like when the girl was walking around the cones but with the buggy, showing a full figure 8. That would clearly express the lines you take. They also could show more of the kite motion and the effect on the buggy to give a true cause and effect demonstration. Great for someone that just heard about buggies but not much use in it for someone that can already link turns, controlling the kite and buggy without crashing either one. Back in the mail tomorrow.

Lobo - 22-4-2008 at 10:43 AM

Shooooooooo! Screwy must have been right! You saw more than I did!! Did you play it backwards.....did ya.....hunh....did ya.....hunh?!?!??:o:lol:

BeamerBob - 22-4-2008 at 11:13 AM

to see it's merits, you have to remember back when you knew nothing about how to make a kite do something. I'm not saying ANYTHING about what I saw when I played it backwards. They're watching you know :ticking:

soccerflyer - 29-4-2008 at 10:49 AM

Got the video yesterday. Thanks Bob! I watched it. I am sure it was lame for someone who has been out more than 5 times. But I think I may have picked up a few things from it.

I will watch it again and take notes then I can send it on.

Dlish, you ready for it back?

acampbell - 29-4-2008 at 11:11 AM

I sell these, but make it very clear in my product description that it is very basic. It is good for someone learning in a vacuum, as Bobby indicates.

DAKITEZ - 29-4-2008 at 01:11 PM

Anyone else want a look ??
If not go ahead and send it back. I will u2u with my address.

soccerflyer - 5-5-2008 at 12:20 PM

Ok, I will send it on to whoever wants it next.

Thanks again, Dlish for all your help.
