From Bullet 3.5 to .....

Hardy_uk - 9-8-2004 at 11:27 AM

Hey,

I have been flying my Bullet 3.5 for around 4 months now and absolutely love it, however like an earlier post suggests it does not give me much opportunity to scud or jump.

I have been looking a buying a Blade 3, 4.9 or 6.6 went to the kite shop and the bloke reckoned that I should go for a 7.0m Bullet. What do you think?

Also are non- Flexifoil kites any good? PKD and Peter Lynn and such like.

Thanks and sorry for the long one... but I'm relatively new to the sport.

I'm a big guy. weigh 13.5 stones

As has been said before, If you want to get airborn, you have very few options. You do not want to go with a bullet. You also want to stay away from buggy race kites, and any of the other lower aspect kites that give little lift. Examples:PKD Busters, Ozone-anything but a frenzy. Here is what you are looking for to jump with.

Flexifoil Blades
Macpara Begos

If you want to get into a de-powerable kite for land while using a harness, you still have very few options.

Ozone Frenzys
Peter Lynn Bombas,Guerillas,Phantoms, or you can pick up an ARC second hand.
Any of the Flysurfers would be good.
Viokite hasnt been really good so far from what I have heard, but they do have a new kite in the works that is supposed to be better.

Try and stay away from the surf kites that have the air-filled bladder for land use because it will most likely eventually burst.

Being relatively new, I would stick with something on handles. Two reasons-
price, and trying to stick with a learning curve.

Hope this helps

Hello there,
My first try with a Bego 600 yesterday.
3mph wind + 190 lbs = :singing:air time
RMV

Confused

Hardy_uk - 11-8-2004 at 01:45 PM

what the hell to go for, been reading about the Bego 600, i was torn between a Blade III, 4.9 or 6.6... now its between a Blade III 4.9 or 6.6 or Bego 600, boy oh boy oh boy!

Thing I dont know is bloody wind speeds.. what the norm is!

Anyone know if the Bego is out in the UK not seen them about. Also how much are they here?

Got my Bego 400 from airbossworld (in the UK) for £323 including lines, handles and kite killers. Delivery was free. Give them a ring and have a chat and they will sort you out a deal. You can even pay over 4 months, interest free, provided you stump up a 25% deposit.

Am I right in saying...

Bullet = Scudding
Blade = Jumps?

First off, if your going to buy a Bego in UK> please see Alistair @ Atmosphere Kites

He knows more about this kite than anyone but the manufacturer. He also does free setup. Now back to some other stuff-

Bullets-
Very fast
Very strong lateral pull
Hardly any lift
Very good handling
You can-
Jump (not very well, and landings are not soft)
Scud-like a mad man
Buggy-faster kites are better
ATB (mountainboard) you can use it for this, but not so good because of no lift, and the kites speed. You better off with a slower lifty kite.

Blades-
Make great power per size
Produces extreme lateral pull
Prodeces extreme lift
Not as fast as a bullet
You can-
Jump-like a mad man with soft landings
Scud-like crazy
ATB-awesome, because its good to have the lift to lean against
Buggy-you can, but you have to be careful of the lift becuase if you get the kite to high, it will give you an OBE (Ouf of Buggy Experience) if you fly blades with a buggy often enough, this will happen to you.

The bego has the same power characteristics as the blade, but with a little less lateral pull, and more lift. Also the Bego produces more power per size than the Blade.

The Bego 200 will not produce as much power as a 3m Blade
The Bego 400 spanks a Blade 4.9m
The Bego 600 spanks a 6.6 Blade.
