Need a kite to jump ¿Which one?

sabraxas - 21-4-2008 at 05:51 AM

Hi, i´m brand new here, but several years practicing Kitebuggy, kite atb and kitesurf.

The question is , that i need a foil to jump high and good hangtime with a mountainboard. I dont know models or brands. I live in Buenos Aires, South america, and we dont have too much information here. I´ve been jumping with Peter lynn Cquads, and have no performance in jumps. the lift is quickly, but you are dropped quickly too.
I weight 160 pounds and dont have too much wind. 10 mph.

Which are the characteristics of a jumping kite?
Big open cells? Fat profile? mid ar?

Thank you very much an pardon my poor english.

Hi down there... I would recommend the Flexifoil Blade IV with the 6.5 meter size probably working best in 10 mph winds. I own the 4.9, and find jumping a bit difficult in 10mph winds. I jump without an atb right now, and weigh 190 lbs. I recommend the fourth model because of the adjustable bridle... 4 settings ranging from light lift and fast to high lift, and a bit slower (but still pretty fast).

The jumps that I get in float me back down nicely, just remember to redirect the kite back into facing the wind for easy float. The Blade has an AR of 5:1, but I have had good floaty jumps from fatter kites, too. The blade has air inlets across the entire leading edge of the kite.

Have fun out there.

welcome.......10 mph winds youre going to need something big for air. Fixed bridle Blade 8.5, 10m Mandibule is a French two liner but uber lifty or depower the larger flysurfers (Psychos/Speeds/Silverarrows), Ozone (Frenzys/Mantas), or Flexi (Sabres)................. as you know the apparent wind will assist you while boarding. I have a 13m that will boost you in 10/12 mph winds on the landboard!

The Blade is the king for lift but if you are on a budget, you may want to check out the HQ crossfires and the new Eolo Radsail Savages.

where's a good place to snag one of those eolo radsail savages?

In the for sale thread.....................

8.5m SAVAGE by Radsail for sale

Going up on eBay

Hey Guys

Added some photos of the kite

I have a brand new 8.5m Radsail SAVAGE for sale. (Demo’ed once on the snow)
This is Radsails new style high performance race kite.

Comes complete with 25m Climax lines, great Radsail handles, kite killers, instruction book and awesome backpack.
Construction of the kite is fantastic and it flies even better than it looks! I have never flown a kite that accelerates like this kite does. Turns are great because of the narrow tips and the kite handles superbly. Just like the Razor, you need to hold a bit of brake to get the kite up on the step, and then it rips! A great light wind buggy or snowkite.

$400 Retail is over $570

CF II's still haven't made it to the states. I can't wait to get my hands on one. My CF is loads of fun above 12 mph.
