I figure i should ask the pros there opinion. I currently have a 7.0 mtr depower. What size should i look into next for lower wind days. should i be looking into the 9.5 maybe 10 mtr stuff? not sure on which kite to go with yet. I weigh 142lbs so i don't want to go too big just yet.

really? umm how about i try to get rid of 7m and go for a 9.5. but then i would be in the same boat for high wind days no? clean wind where i am and for most part it's 10-15 but sometimes got those days that wind is a steady 8mph Zzzzzzzzzzz maybe on those days i bring out a 8m fixed bridle? maybe 10m?

steady clean 10 to 15 is perfect for the Montana 3. The M3 is an awesome sail.............your M2 is pretty good but along way from the M3..................

Kite model/ size M.P.H. Beaufort

Montana 3 5.0 m 10 - 38 3 - 7
Montana 3 7.0 m 8 - 34 3 - 6.5
Montana 3 9.5 m 8 - 27 3 - 5.5
Montana 3 12.5m 6 - 21 2 - 5

I happen to have one Montana II 12.5 and one Montana II 9.5 left in stock if your looking for a bargain.

We also have the Montana III's as well.

I agree that if you are going to keep your 7m depowerable than you may be better going with the 12.5 but if you are going to be selling your 7m then the 9.5 will probably work. It all depends on your winds and conditions. If you are looking for a little more power than your 7m then the 9.5 would be the ticket. If you are looking for something to match up with your current 7m for a wider wind range then the 12.5 would be the best bet. Between the two you "should" be able to cover the wind range of the 9.5/10m.

Hope that helps.

Thanks alot for the info guys, I think right now for my skill level the 7.0 is just perfect rather then selling off and getting the 9.5 . I still get a little scared shooting the kite straight up on the board while moving to get a jump. tiny jumps so far, i keep chickening out and depower all the way. I just got use to the board only recently and doing just fine for now crusing back and forth and learning to go upwind. Now if i do decide to go with the 12.5 i would prob go for the M3. what type of wind range is perfect for the 12.5 . for the most part the wind is 10-20mph and maybe 2 to 3 times a week 5-10mph. any higher than 20mph and i stay in. and as of right now 5-10mph i stay in. maybe that just too weak for any depower?

HQ has the 12.5 M3 windrange @ 6 to 21 mph. Ive flown the 7m M3 and it was sweet.

I think 12m is most peeps main engine on MTB. i would strongly recommend You my 12m Sabre2. Its super steady and have sweet float.PM me if interested.I start playing wit it at 8mph and anything above 20 starting to look scary ( that would be time to switch to 7m). Above 15 mph You really have to pay attention. My best days with it are 12-16 range.
