K so I found a shop out by us that sells them, and I went ahead and got the MBS Atom 95X, not the best board, but my price range has a cap....
So I rode it around for a while, was fun, took the brake off, pulled out the 8m and it killed me. I could kinda hold a run goof foot (my favored side)
and then when I went to turn I would always slide WAAAYYYY down wind, and then either flip over the front of the board, or when I tried to go regular,
the kite would fly over to the edge of the wind window, and collapse. I couldn't get going regular side at all! EVIL!! I felt pretty overpowered with
my 8m in 10mph winds, should I try and borrow my friends 3.6 for now?
I need help!!!
Thanks,
NPW

don't swoop from left to right throught the wind window. take your kite to ones side or the other, and move your kite up and down vs. left and right.
keep the kite on one side of the window and lean into it a bit. when the power goes away, move your kite up and down a little. the flight pattern
looks like a sin wave.NPWfever - 4-5-2008 at 03:30 PM
Yeah I know sining the kite from snowkiting, but thats the odd thing, like I'm locking it just like on my snowboard, I am doing nothing different bu I
just keep eating it. Wish I had brought that helmet! :ticking:USA_Eli_A - 4-5-2008 at 03:31 PM
are you going over forward?
if so, just push those feet out in front and edge hard,
HELMETS.....YES PLEASE DO!!!!

IF I BUILD SOME HOW TO YOU TUBE VIDEOS: WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO START?Baluk - 4-5-2008 at 04:49 PM
Yea just lean back tons when doing powerslides. Edge hard and you'll eventually get it.PHREERIDER - 4-5-2008 at 05:52 PM
powerslide with heelside edgeing take the kite up through the top of the power zone then switch heelside pressure on your NEW back foot . Direction
change, called "slide transition" same on the water. Add some lift and trick it out after you get comfortable. Next try Downwind jibe going to
toeside, you get twisted when tracking in the new direction then turn back again you will be going to heelside down loop the kite to the new
direction you will speed up. A low wind pass to start helped me get comfortable. And now try to track in the same spot back and forth across the
wind. PAD UP everytime!
ride is on !

Would it help to start with a smaller kite? And be underpowered? My friend has a 3.6m, maybe I'll take it out on the astroturf and see what happens.NPWfever - 4-5-2008 at 08:39 PM
Here it is! :singing::singing::singing::singing::singing::singing::singing::singing::singing:
That angle confusing you yet?

If you are power sliding and getting yanked over the front it sounds like you are diving the kite WAY too much. Keep the kite up high and make VERY
SMALL diving motions until you are rolling along smooth. Then you can try and set the kite at the edge after you are rolling. This applies even more
if you are well powered. Well powered is better. A big canopy to lean back against is also nice for learning. Just make MUCH smaller motions and it
will click !
You don't need that initial burts of power to lift your :moon: up and gain momentum like on the snowboard !!!
YOU REALLY NEED KNEEPADS NOW !!!!!! :duh:macboy - 4-5-2008 at 10:50 PM
I've had a similar battle with the ATB and have decided I'm going to wait for a moderate wind day that I can get useable power out of my 4.7. The
Brooza and the Ozone are just too much to learn the ropes for me. I figure if I can take a smaller, more responsive kite out first I can figure out
the board and pull and then work my way back up to the bigger kites. I bought a copy of Drill 1 from Eli which also had a few good pointers in it so
next time out I'll let you know what happens. Trouble for me is dirty dirty wind at the fields by my place but I'll sort that out somehow too.
.....as in "learn how to fly the dirty winds" not "develop supernatural powers to control the winds at will" :singing:BeamerBob - 5-5-2008 at 06:24 AM
I did that on the buggy with my beamer. Lucky me, the wind was cranking at about 16-17 the first day with the buggy so the beamer was well powered
and super responsive. That allowed me to not have to plan ahead for turns so well, and if I got behind with the kites motions, I could get back on
track in a second. Small kite but well powered was a good trainer for me in the buggy. Not sure how well that would work on the board. Everyone
says lots of power and kite help out a lot.kiteNH - 5-5-2008 at 06:41 AM

Do those hillbilly shorts actually fit under a pair of pants or shorts? I almost ordered a pair but they looked so friggin bulky that I didn't know
if I'd actually ever wear them.
I've been out of diapers for quite a few years now and don't know if I can go back. :frog: :frog:dylanj423 - 5-5-2008 at 08:59 PM
I just ordered a pair of red impact shorts, they look small enough to wear under some clothes.
After eating it a few times square on my left hip, I decided to get a pair. A pancake sized welt on my thigh changed my mind about impact shorts (ok,
ok, hitting the pancake sized welt on my thigh the second time).
Even if they dont fit very well under my clothes, it will be worth it... now I can push the envelope just a little bit further. More pads = More fun and less pain.
