I am wondering if anyone can give me a list of American kite (or board or buggy) companies. I realize that all of the kites end up getting made in
China or Vietnam, but I'm curious what kite companies are actually based in the US. (Or even Canada ;-).)
It seems like most of the companies are European. I'm not a "buy American" fanatic or anything since most everything seems to be made by giant
multi-national companies and manufactured elsewhere these days, but I still like the idea of supporting companies based in the US when I can.
I think that Eclipse is based here so I'll start it off with that. Also Ground Industries and MBS for ground boards.bigkahuna - 6-5-2008 at 07:49 AM

Ocean Rodeo is Canadian. Concept air is also.

I think that all of the kites are made overseas. I don't know of any kites that are actually manufactured in the North America. I was really asking
what companies were based in the US or Canada since I assumed that zero were made here.DenisLaMenace - 7-5-2008 at 02:50 PM

Eclipse is based US but their kites are made in China.
Friend of mine resells eclipse here, he said that their production cost is less than 100 $ per kite.
The rest is distribution, transport, resell, and marketing hype. I guess it's probably the same with other brands.
Except for Concept Air. They make the kites here in Saguenay, Qc. Their production cost is high.
Bladerunner. What about OR ? Do they make them here ? Same for the drysuits??Bladerunner - 7-5-2008 at 03:56 PM
Good Question ?
I knew Concept air make there own but their line is small.
I would have to expect O.R. goes off shore for theirs ? They have a bigger line and larger market.
I know they do their R+D on the island !
