Predator1400 - 10-5-2008 at 01:29 PM
Hey all, I just joined this forum to hopefully find some help. I just bought a new kite today, its been about 7 years since I last flew one. But
this one is HUGE. Its called a Predator 1400, and I bought it from a nice lady for $30!!! It has a 10+ ft wingspan, the only problem is it has 2
small white tubes and I dont know where they go. They are both about 1 and a half feet long each and are both identical. The kite seems like its
missing the trailing edge tubes to push the kite out and tight, and so it can catch th wind. But there's no slots, holes or anything that I see to
put these extra tube, and the kite seems loose like the frame will fall apart if it wasnt in a strong wind. Anyways all the info I have on it is
that its a Predator 1400, it says it was made in Canada. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, -Nick

I was starring at the kite again and think maybe he just used the tubes to stick in the ground and launch the kite off of? I dont see any use for
them on the kite, I took it outside and when the wind catches it everthing seems to pull together nice and tight. I think I will just take it out in
a couple hours if the wind is enough and see how it does.
Also, I think I figured out its called a 1400 because its 14ft wide. Stands about 9ft tall on the tip of the wings.

I got a copy of the instructions today from the previous owner. The little tubes I was talking about are called whiskers, and they bend around
behind the kite to bow out the trailing edge slightly. Im having a lot of fun with this thing, I just broke my toe nail in half getting pulled
across the dry lake bed out here. Lots of fun! Thanks for no help..

I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of the predator. I'm having a hard time figuring out what those whisker would be used for. I tried to find something
for you but have never heard of a predator 1400 and couldn't find anything. Good luck!

Looksl ike it was a kite that came from "Sky Kites" and I think they're out of business. I found a review on the predator II and it looks like they
were great traction kites! have fun man!

from wikipedia: "In the UK in the late 90s, the 'Predator' kite designed by Peter Mirkovic of Sky Kites [6] was the most popular and successful
traction kite amongst people competing in buggy races, winning the majority of races at this time."
