Bladerunner - 12-5-2008 at 07:00 PM

Can you believe this guy calls THIS : http://cgi.ebay.com/BIG-Wipika-22-5m-Kite-with-5th-line-CLS-... A good BEGINER to intermediate starter package.

I don't even see a safety leash with it ? :duh:

wow :alien:

DAKITEZ - 12-5-2008 at 07:09 PM

It would be the beginning of the end of your life when you hook into that monster. Maybe thats what they meant:puzzled:

Beginner my A$$. Wow, that is some serious trouble there. Nube and a kite that size...WOW!

macboy - 12-5-2008 at 07:56 PM

I can't even imagine.........when I first started out my definition of "no wind to light wind" was completely unrealistic. If I fell for that one I'd have a kite that wouldn't fly until it was too windy to hang onto that much kite a beginner.......I've since found that NO KITE flies until 3-5 MPH and no tube kite flies much before 10. Or am I wrong here? If you can actually fly in literally NO WIND I need a lesson.

We have a group of indoor flyers here, honestly
Spinny Bunch :wink2:

I asked him if it had a manual and if it would be a good kite to JUMP with :duh:

His reply : no manual but he can tell me how to set it up :wow:

Seems I can jump on water or SNOW with it :o

Now I wrote, my friend says I'll need a safety leash. Does it have one ? Do I need one ? :wink2:

i would like to meet the beginner who hooks into this rig! so i could buy it from him on the spot while he's still shaking for about $20, if he could get up.

clearly this is irresponsible of the seller. maybe he is a beginner and really doesn't know. maybe this IS the guy that's still shaking! this does not help the kiting community.

kitedemon - 13-5-2008 at 05:54 AM

I would hope that anyone reading that would see 22M and think gee 240 square foot isn't that a bit big.... unfortunately there are ppl who would not even give it a second though. VERY IRRESPONSIBLE seller!

Bladerunner - 13-5-2008 at 04:04 PM

Good news. It comes with a safety leash. The seller believes I'm a beginer and says he " has me covered " :ninja:

and I hear he has a head stone with your name on it free of charge (you pay the shipping )

I sent him an email questioning his morals in calling a 22.5 m kite a "beginner" package. Below is his response. A real class act.

Quoted from email:
If someone does not research the sport they are gitting into thats not my responsability. I sell good used equipment I test myself to make sure it is in good condition. I am and take no responsability for a non experienced kiter. As such I answer all questions HONESTLY and completely and allways remind people this is not a SOLO sport I tell them never kite alone.
I learned by trial and error and watching videos and others. I would assume people looking to buy have done so as well. I appreciate your concern and wish you well. Also If you do kite I have a lot of new and used stuff going up soon.
Cheers Brian

I responded with this:
Your responsibility is to accurately represent the product you are selling. After that, yes the buyer is responsible for what he does with the kite. The issue I have is your statement that says “This is a great beginner to intermediate package…”. Someone that hasn’t done research and taken lessons might take solace that you say it is a suitable beginner kite. Also, you don’t actually mention in the listing that a flyer of a kite like this shouldn’t fly alone. You also don’t seem to be including a safety leash. This industry is heading toward more government involvement and it is situations like you are setting up here that are going to make it seem necessary for them to do so. Again, my only beef with you and your listing is your statement about it being a beginner package. It is as far as you can get away from a beginner package and you seem to know the difference. Your listing should recommend training before use, and that the flyer have prior experience with smaller kites before flying this beast. Your response to bad feedback gives insight into your attitude. Gentleman certainly doesn’t belong on your resume’.

Good going BeamerBob! You are right there I have seen few people whom seems to think that starting with a 16m (or bigger...) was a good idea, and they got that from irresponsible sellers. I am also concerned by the on coming government regulations!

so the bottom line appears to be profit vs passion (safety, experience, etc). Ill go for the passion anyday! Honestly, a few sessions on a smaller Beamer 3 and you should be ready for this one!:lol:
