Hey so I'm going to be a freshman Texas A&M at Galveston this fall and I just wanted to know if anyone on PFK is also a current/prospective Sea
Aggie. I'm looking at getting a buggy soon cause they're awesome and Galveston has got some good areas for that. Anyone who wants to go kiting with
me this fall in Galveston let me know...if there's enough interest at TAMUG maybe we could start a traction kite club (if there's not already one).
Anyway yeah...kitemaker4 - 27-5-2008 at 06:55 AM
You can buggy on east beach during the off season and out on the west end slp anytime. You should run into some locals that buggy and kite board.
With the price of gas I do not make it to the island like I use to.

I went to TAMUG in the early 90's. If nothing has changed you can go check out the Bolivar peninsula too...just a ferry ride away.

You can find me out on the water 5-6 days a week but i do buggy from time to time..........ajdylanj423 - 29-5-2008 at 07:00 AM
I havent been down there, yet, but I live in Austin, and will be getting there a few times a year, probably more after the first time I get there.
Theres the Dead Bird Buggy Bash in November there. And I hear that one of the better spots is South on Seawall (I think thats right- the main drive
next to the water) drive until it dies.
Post when youre headed out, and if I can, I'll make it.Taper123 - 29-5-2008 at 10:47 AM
AJ... You LIVE on the water.
I'm usually down there buggyin once a month or more when I can get away with it. You'll be really close to East Beach, which is nice and empty most
of the winter. Warmer months you'll be more likely to catch some of us on our buggys at San Luis Pass.
If you don't head home for Thanksgiving, join us at East Beach for some turkey.action jackson - 29-5-2008 at 01:22 PM
AJ... You LIVE on the water.
My head is below the water line when i sleep but i do manage to kite 6 days a week. Hopefully i will get out there today if this high will just slip
away. The bay was starting to white cap on my way home so a quick nap and it should be ready for me by 5pm..............aj:singing:centex_buggier - 29-5-2008 at 06:51 PM
Dylanj423, I don't think we've met. I live in Austin too and buggy all the time at Old Settler's park. It might be a little rough for a board or dirt
surfer, but you should come on out.
I also make it down to all the events in Galveston every year, but haven't made many other trips down there.
AJ, I wish I could make it down there as much as you. Our winds have been a ZERO gusting to 5 the last few days and it's making me sick.

Steve.
I think we have met.... didnt I buy y'all dessert?? I tried OSP one day, and the wind just didnt do us right. Do they usually take those soccer posts
down, or are they permanent?centex_buggier - 29-5-2008 at 07:50 PM
Sorry, I don't recall.
I buggy in the field at the back of the park by the tennis courts with no obstructions. S or SE in that field is pretty good. Plus the parks dept has
officially Okayed us to use the field.burritobandit - 29-5-2008 at 09:36 PM
Hey Centex, I'm from Austin as well You, Dylan, and I should all get together
and go kite soon at OSP or Zilker. We've met a few other kiters in the area at Zilker. I've got their contact info and could probably round them up
as well.
Maybe we could coordinate a road trip to the coast where there's WIND :frog:
