I just starting out with Power Kiting and have no idea where would be a good place to start? The local schools near me have too many obstructions on
the ground that I'd be concerned about with the kite crashing or getting pulled into.

Why don't you check out http://connectikiters.org/ for some ideas on where to fly.
That's mostly a club for dual and single line folks but it lists popular locations and perhaps you can find someone in your area.

Don't forget GoogleEarth, too, for finding large open areas.
I static-flew at Long Beach in Stratford, CT a few times in the off season. Same at Sherwood Island State Park.
Check out their respective sites, though, for info regarding plover bird and other restrictions.
Dunno how far from Wildwood, NJ ya are, but a group of us kite/buggy there in the off season as well. Bit of a hike, but worth it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give both a try.
Thanks!

You could go to NAPKRA.org and join buggiers in North America and then you would be able to see who buggies around in your area. We are 127 pilots
strong, and welcome everyone.
