Just curious on peoples strope making techniques.
I have been making mine with loops on the end and just larkshead knot them to the handles. The problem I have been having is my knot is too big and
gets stuck on my harness. I want to make my loop by using a fid and running the line back through its self, but I'm having trouble coming across a
fid.
So this brings me to this thread. how do you construct your strope and how do you connect it to your handles.
Thank you.
PS I love pictures ... please share.

Do a larkshead without the loop. Just double the end of the strop line and then act like it was a loop and make your larkshead. It makes a very
clean attachment. Tie a small overhand knot on each end first so it won't slip through. I haven't used a harness with a strop alot but this worked
fine when I did use it.

BB-
do you add a twist to the doubled over lines ? If not I cannot figure out what you mean. If I just double the lines over to make a loop and then pull
the line through the loop it just all falls apart.

For my first and only strop, I used a buntline hitch knot for my strop. It's working like a champ. I have flexi handles.

Just double the lines at the end of the line about 4-5 inches. Fold this back on itself to make your larkshead. Then slip the larkshead over the
pigtail behind your powerlines. You must have a small overhand knot at the end of your handle pigtail and at the very end of your strop line or it
won't hold and just slip off. If I still haven't made it clear, I'll take a pic and post it. Let me know.

Get a strop line (5-6mm climbing rope or suitable replacement). Then get 2' of 2mm climbing rope or suitable spectra core replacement. Tie a knot in
each end of the strop line. Now cut the 2mm in half so you have two 1' sections of rope. Fold those sections in half and tie off with an overhand or
figure of 8 knot (so you have 2 independant pigtails).
Now you can use the 2mm loops to larkshead the 5mm strop to your handle. The knot on the strop and the pigtail should stop you from sliding that into
your spreader bar. As you wear your strop out you simply replace that piece and if you decide to fly without the harness you can simply remove the
strop.
The strop should never be longer than the lenght of your arm from your shoulder to your wrist (so you can always grab your handle if you drop one when
stropped in).
