first session with the SA 1.5 17m

first things first WOW!

I feel like everyone should have one of these in there quiver!

I started the day off on the pulse 2 12m but I was a bit underpowered so I decided to bust out the Silverarrow.

first of all this thing is super stable! in conditions where my pulse was jumping around a bit and threatening to invert on me, the SA just sat there at the zenith fully depowered and easy to hang on to.

pulling in on the bar for the first time put an instant grin on my face from ear to ear as it picked me straight up off the ground and just let me hover for a couple seconds before I let the bar out and it let me down softly again.

the wind was probably in the 12-18mph range initially, then building to 15-20 before lulling back down to 12-15 again.

my only complaint was that the kite does turn kinda slow. ok it turns really slow, but I think this might have something to do with the fact that the one I have has a very short carbon bar. (its actually quite a bit shorter then the bar for my pulse2)

the slow turning speed has its advantages though, the couple times that I did wipe out it was nice that the kite didn't go into a crazy death spiral but just sat there happily where I left it.

I have a few pictures I took of my buddy josh who met up with me. he forgot all of his gear so he's out on mine with the arrow.

Finally the FDS worked like a dream for self landing. even though I only had to use it once. as soon as josh showed up we did assisted landings which also worked but it was almost harder then just using the FDS.

:) awesome! Glad you're having lots of fun with it
I loved jumping with this thing, glides like crazy and i actually found the slow turning useful for the glide but yeah i reckon it could do with a bar size up...

hey Dom, here's the location:
http://www.kitebeaches.com/beach/dungeness_spit__cline_spit_...

it can be a bit chilly during the winter. yesterday it was really sunny but the wind felt really cold. I was actually warmer in the water.

I had on a 5-4-3 ripcurl suit and I was comfortable without booties, gloves or a hood. I quickly put booties on though after I cut up my foot pretty bad.

as long as you have a 5-4 suit you could go here year round. I think in the summer you can probably get away with a spring suit or maybe just board shorts. I'm not sure about that yet though.
