Ok...so far, yesterday was the worst. Anyone that smokes or has smoked knows that when you are in a lot of pain, one of the first things you do is
smoke. I was in a TON of pain yesterday. I broke a tooth a while back and never did anything about it. Well, it started hurting a couple of days
ago and yesterday, I couldnt stand it anymore. I was pacing like a mad man. I was asking everyone I could think of at work if anyone had any pain
reliever. Came up dry. I called the dentist...they told me to come in right away. I called my wife, told her what was going on...and she left her
work to come get me. (We carpool) I pack up my stuff and head outside. I start walking the parkinglot...almost running. This all started at about
9:30 or so. At 2:30, when the emergency root canal was fnished...I realized I went through all of that without having a smoke. This was huge for me.
So, Day 2 done...and still no smoke. I can almost feel that new Rage tuggin at my hands already!! :singing:

Today will be easy compared to root canal day. Stick with it! Imagine the smell of that new ripstop the first time you open it up! :singing:

...and the money you save in cigarettes can go to kites
f0rgiv3n - 25-6-2008 at 08:19 AM
Nice job!!!! Stay strong man! And I bet it feels nice to have that tooth all fixed eh? :tumble:
bcooper79 - 25-6-2008 at 08:20 AM
Ever seen a grown man cry? I was close yesterday. Yeah, its all fixed now just a little tender from the actual work that was done on it.
jockeys - 25-6-2008 at 08:42 AM
stay strong, dude, you can make it!
_____ - 25-6-2008 at 09:28 AM
Congrats man. Now if only I had your will power...
WELDNGOD - 25-6-2008 at 02:40 PM
good goin , it gets easier.Just keep you eye on the "kite". I think I hear the UPS truck comin up the street.:P
WELDNGOD - 25-6-2008 at 04:33 PM
hey bcoop, how's that "hand to mouth"eye opener workin for ya? That realization helped me in a big way,I just started laughing at myself when I
started looking for my smokes. The benefit is in three mos. you will feel so much better and stronger( because the carbon monoxide level in your blood
is gone ). hang in there bro , your gonna need that air capacity when you get the RAGE!
bcooper79 - 26-6-2008 at 06:31 AM
So far, so good. Was a little rough last night and into this morning, but I survived. I'll just be glad when my cough isnt as chunky...lol
Taper123 - 26-6-2008 at 06:47 PM
Lunk junks make great adhesive.
Stick with it... and you'll be benefitting in many ways. Kites are just an added bonus.
BTW: have a rage 4.7 in PunS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-d color scheme. Wife and I don't fly it often, but is a great kite when it does see some sky. We just
prefer bars and fly Ozone Access's and PL Scorpions.
gross213 - 26-6-2008 at 07:47 PM
think of all that money you are going to have for kiting, most people smoke a pack a day, so at about 5 bucks a pack times 31 is 155.00 bucks for
the month and times 365 is 1825.00 . think of the kick ass kites you can get for that. I quit cold turkey 3 years ago and for the first 6 months put 5
bucks a day into a jar , and i feel so much better. good luck to you ...:singing:
bcooper79 - 27-6-2008 at 05:25 AM
So...its Friday. WeeS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s almost up and the urges are nearly gone. Only get an urge now when the stress level goes up. Pretty natural I
think. So, 1 week down, 3 to go!!!
WELDNGOD - 27-6-2008 at 02:46 PM
Dude! your done, it aint nothin but easy from here on out. congrats for makin it 1 wk. now remember, you smokin an old dam ciggy aint
gonna change whatever is stressin ya. what it will change is you, back into a smoker( and not a rage flyer) good luck my brother, you are there.soon
you will start to feel stronger, more energetic and overall just feel better. the carbon monoxide level that used to be high will go down. and that
will allow your blood to carry more oxygen ,thus the increased stamina( the ol' lady might have ta watch out if ya get more stamina), any way good
goin and keep it up( pun definitely intended)
bcooper79 - 30-6-2008 at 05:08 AM
Thank you to everyone for all of the support. Like WELDNGOD has stated...I'm done. Its over. I have officially quit smoking. Now, the deal that I
made with my wife was a month, so I still have 3 weeks before I get to order the Rage...but for all intents and purposes, I'm now a nonsmoker
again...
barnes - 5-7-2008 at 05:53 AM
Congrats!
bcooper79 - 5-7-2008 at 08:33 AM
2 weeks down, 2 more to go. DaVinch is gonna hook me up with the Rage I think. So at this point, its just a waiting game.
WELDNGOD - 5-7-2008 at 08:40 AM
see if you can get get a AAA kit for it, really makes the kite have a bigger wind range. I got mine direct from flexifoil, but I don't see them on
their website since they changed it.
bcooper79 - 5-7-2008 at 11:30 PM
What is this AAA kit you speak of?
WELDNGOD - 6-7-2008 at 07:35 AM
adjustable angle of attack kitcosts 40 bucks w/ shipping. it lets you adjust how much balls your kite has. here it is
dylanj423 - 7-7-2008 at 06:34 AM
I have put the cigarettes down again, too. Just last Friday, and did a marathon session on Saturday... I didnt want a smoke all day. Yesterday was
alright, too. I am using a reward system, also... spread over the length of about 9 months. A 3.5 Rage after 3 months, an 8.5 Blade after 6 months,
and a Mountain Bike after 9 months. The last couple times I put them down, one month was really difficult for me, so I also included something right
after one, and two months- a round of golf at a decent course somewhere around here.
I just wanted to let y'all know that everyones comments and efforts here have helped another PKF member put the cigarettes down. And I have heard that
rewarding yourself at intervals is important, and I have never tried it this way. No better reward than new Flexis... except maybe a new
Flysurfer:duh:... Thanks, guys.
f0rgiv3n - 7-7-2008 at 08:33 AM
wooo!!!! that's what i'm talkin' about! I'm kinda jealous actually! :P I wish i had to quit smoking so i could reward myself with new kites! lol! Good job
to both of you: dylan and bcooper. That's gonna make a huge difference not only in the lungs but also in the wallet! :P
