so due to new circumstances i will be able to go to the beach in pismo more often then i ever thought so im looking a getting a board in the next couple of months probably more winter time. so what do you guys think of the spleene and what size? thanks.

I have used the Spleene RIP 138x44 2008 for almost 12-15 sessions.

But I sold it last week, and I am getting the RIP 34, and the DOOR 59.

I can comment the DOOR yet but I sure I will next week.

I really liked my RIP38 as a ONE board solution. The large size gives early planning, but still can be well managed at higher speeds. It does OK in the chops, but it sprays a bit.

Here in Montreal, there is a lot of light winds so I expect to get some knots on the low end size with the DOOR, and go with the 34 when more windy.

For sure the things I like about the spleen is the built top notch quality, and the comfort the pads offer, real slippers.

Good resell value too.

get the Session or Rip38 like Buzz if you're going with 1 board and smaller kites.

i used to have the Rip38 as well before i got a SilverArrow... now i just ride the Rip34 exclusively between 8-30knots. besides, more kites is more fun anyways.

the Rip38 is more "conventional" shape and the Session is more door-like with asymetrical threaded inserts. also, you can modify the fin placement on the Session to improve low wind. install them like the Door on the heel edge and center of the tips.

have a great time ! you'll never go to another board once on a Spleene !

I am 180lbs too.

My guess If you go one board,

go RIP 138x44 if occasional kiter or average skills like me
go RIP 134x40 if more advanced/expert skills

The extra 4cm width on the 138 board was really appreciated for me while progressing.

I only tested 3 other boards, skywalker, litewave, and underground recently but I don't bother anymore now. Spleene is the only ONE.

If you go with a session or door, you'll still want a smaller and regular shape board eventually.

So I expect to use the DOOR59 when wind forecast are below 13-14 knots, and the RIP34 above that. We'll see. They are in the mail, should get them Monday.
