silvereaglekiter - 1-7-2008 at 05:11 PM

it,s a Rev powerblast knock off for sail by our old buddy :megan:Tang:thumbdown: see thread HQ Knock off

NPWfever - 1-7-2008 at 05:26 PM

Seriosly hes at it again?! Has anyone said anything to ebay? Surely thats against their policies. Or the kite companies...?

WELDNGOD - 1-7-2008 at 06:20 PM

here we go....

BeamerBob - 1-7-2008 at 06:48 PM

Stay away from that guy. He's trying to make a career selling knock-offs of otherwise marketable products. Apparently he buys one and finds a factory in China to duplicate it, and then sells it like he figured it all out himself. As I remember, he's copied the kite trike, the revolution kite, and the biggie was the complete copy of an HQ Montana I right down to the font for the name on the kite. He would sell his own mom fake oxygen. :flaming: :piggy:

EDIT: He has all three listed right now.

NPWfever - 1-7-2008 at 06:56 PM

Isn't that like big time illegal?! Like has anyone sent these links to these to the kite companies, I know HQ knows, but yeah. The odd thing is he makes not very good stuff, like the kite trike is for sure not the best buggy, he copied the montana 1, not the 2 or 3?! And the Rev is neutral but w/e. Im waiting for him to like copy a Pansh or something. Lol

I'll ask for his phone number so I can ask him a few questions about the kite, then we can all give him a piece of our minds.

BeamerBob - 1-7-2008 at 07:12 PM

I tried arguing via email and don't think you will accomplish anything by embarrasing him or trying to make him ashamed of what he does. He has no morals or scruples at all. You will finish arguing with him and he will almost have you believing YOU are the crook. :ticking:

NPWfever - 1-7-2008 at 07:24 PM

Yeah sure, but you know, maybe get his email, and send it to some spammers...... :P Just bug the crap out of him.........or send his # to the kite companies hes copying. Perhaps as punishment hell have to spread his supplies amongst us....... :D

KiteProject - 1-7-2008 at 07:59 PM

I think I may have exchanged some messages on ebay regarding the trike with this guy. I don't recall exactly what it was but things just didn't add up so I moved on.

HQ is no kite to duplicate. If he wants to duplicate a kite, he should try a PKD Combat or an Ozone Yakuza. That'd be fun.

So, I checked his other auctions and saw the trike. Its him.

I have to give it to him, he is using HQ stock photographs in his kite auction.

NPWfever - 1-7-2008 at 08:27 PM

This is crazy, and needs to be stopped...hes an idiot!

KiteProject - 1-7-2008 at 08:40 PM

He is no push over. What do you propose people do about this? He is doing it at a very small scale so an expensive litigation might just be not worth the cost.

IDK, what to do, but it still needs to be stopped, even just to the point where ebay bans him for violating their terms of use.

BeamerBob - 2-7-2008 at 03:33 AM

I know for a fact that HQ USA is aware of his antics with their Montana. However I'm not sure if they decided to do anything about it.

kitedemon - 2-7-2008 at 08:11 AM

In the textiles industry copies are a normal occurrence, kites are on the fringes... just DO NOT SUPPORT him. Try not to sell any used gear to him either! It sucks but there is little anybody can do about it. Unless you americans buy something get hurt... and sue him I can't see how else he can be stopped. Did anybody contact ebay? maybe if they got enough complaints they would ban him.

HQ-Powerkites - 2-7-2008 at 10:01 AM

I just reported that post. I also send this guy an email asking him to remove our Montana photos from his auction. I can only everybody not to support pirates who steal designs, pictures and everything trying to make money.

It is a shame.
Tim

biglou13 - 2-7-2008 at 04:24 PM

if he is using images which he doesnt own for advertising purposes then he surely can be sued

photograph or image is protected

re: design at what point do changes in design make it a new and different product

im not buying on principle.!!!!!

anyone got a blast they'd let me test fly i could trade trial with anything in my bag

SCREWYFITS - 6-7-2008 at 01:18 AM

Well... I'm unsure, but I did some research and came up with some interesting things...:puzzled:

There is a site that seems to be connected to this guy or vise-versa... they have the same Nova kite, the same buggy and the same Rev kites in his ebay listings... the odd thing is the site caries HQ, Flexi, Ozone, Best, North, Peter Lynn and PKD... when you select a kite other than his normal ebay listing items it goes to a Kite Store...

I'm unsure if I should spill the beans on this guy here on the forum...

I U2Ued Tim so he might be able to pull the dealers purchasing privileges with the site if it is associated...

If anyone wants the link just U2U me and you can check it out for yourself...

Hey NPW, does his # start with (713)
looks like they are in Texas...

I'm not sharing this site with you at all and it does not look like this...:D If this is not OK please remove...
wwwdotkysondotyangportaldotcom/Kites

Bladerunner - 6-7-2008 at 09:31 AM

I have been pestering him more on the line of trying to find out about the " company " . Questioning the race history in Europe set of lies . When I asked for a website to check out Nova Eclipse kites all I got was the link to that retail site.

WELDNGOD - 6-7-2008 at 10:47 AM

kind of odd that if you look at one of the knock-offs it goes to kyson usa. but when you look at a brand name it redirects you to action pact kites. far as I know Action pact is a legitimate kite shop in U.K..

WELDNGOD - 6-7-2008 at 11:07 AM

how about the romano buggy , chrome plated aluminum,it weighs 29 lbs. So if you take off the wheels and seat and chrome , it weighs like 16-18 lbs. that is pretty light weight. almost non -existent:lol: Definitely a P.O.S. , my aluminum buggy weighs 60 lbs wheels and all. I can only imagine how thin the wall thickness is .Measured in mils probably:lol: (that is how they measure paint thickness, in mils). Can you believe these idiots want $629 for that P.O.S. good luck makin happy customers with that hunk o junk:thumbdown:
