Finding a bag to FedEx a Libre Buggy

centex_buggier - 4-7-2008 at 03:37 PM

Over the years, I have used a duffel bag to FedEx my Libre FR and carried the axle on the plane as one of my two luggage allowances.

Now they are charging for the second piece of luggage and my duffel bag is falling apart, I thought it would be time to buy a new bag that can fit the buggy, axle and standard wheels. Has anyone tried one of the Dakine kite boarding bags to fit a FR? I was thinking about one of these, but they look a bit small:

Anyone have a good recommendation?

The beat the system bag was in one of my Real Kiteboarding videos, and it looked like you could fit a person inside, I would imagine you could get the buggy in there, and maybe a few foil kites.

Looks pretty darn big to me.

Looks more like it would just cut my gear to shreds......:D

NSI Golf bag works! My team rider fit his XXtreme Apexx (140cm rear axle) completely into it for Nabx.

Another cheaper option would be the Samonite Golf Bag too, its about $150 CAN here, and also fits a full race buggy. I should mention its padded too.

From my experience padded golf bags work better than just cloth golf bags. I use a cloth golf bag for Nabx this year, and it had wear holes on arrival, even though I padded up all the metal ends, and on departure from LAS to YVR, half the bag ripped open. Good thing I tied and plastic wrapped all my parts together, and lost nothing inside.

my wooden nickel

Wow it sound like the NSI bag isn't very tough! Does the Samsonite fit three standard wheels and the axle too?

Kite Slinger: Has the Dakine held up for several flights? Which of their bags do you have?

Thanks,
Steve.

Its none of the one s listed.... that's how old it is and yup! other than looking a bit faded I had just one of the straps come undone on me but I was way over loaded.. when not in use for air travel, I use it as a stuff sack of my ozone wings for 7 or 8 wings a few bars and x-tra handles

I have used the golf bags before when flying with a Libre buggy, but I found that the weight of the golf bag is out weighing the convenience. I use the Libre bags and upon arriving at my destination and collecting the bags in one place, I call a porter, then head to the taxi area and let them load the gear. Let the taxi take you to the car rental place and have the taxi person load it in the rent car. The return trip is a bit tricky but if you insist that the rental car company drop you off at the departing gate for your airline in your rent car because of all the gear you have, then once again, look Mom no hands lifted a thing. Yes I spend an extra $20 to $30 dollars in tips, but when you are on vacation be on vacation.
