Power Kite Forum

Hello all

newkiteman - 17-7-2008 at 01:28 AM

Hello everyone. Just joined yesterday. I got hooked on kiting last year from thercman here on this forum. I have a PANSH 5m. Unfortunatly my flying lines just broke 3 days ago and I have not been able to fly it since. I have flown a OZONE HAKA 5m which was very enjoyable. Just can't afford to own one right now. I am in the military currently deployed in the desert so plenty of wind and open space out here. Hoping to be able to buy some better lines and handles next month. I have been looking at OZONE lines and handles.... unles there are other suggestions out there. Thanks and hope to talk to you all soon

Check out DAKITEZ web site.

prices look good, and he seems like a pretty ok guy.

BeamerBob - 17-7-2008 at 04:07 AM

He certainly is a great guy. Buy with confidence that he does the right thing at the right price.

furbowski - 17-7-2008 at 08:36 AM

yes dakitz seems to take the pain out of pansh!

have fun in the desert...

I've always wanted to try flying a kite on a nice downhill slope with the wind coming uphill nice and strong and smooth...

You can try re-tying your broken flying line using a blood knot (search da web) but you'll need to either adjust you other line lengths, your bridle knots, or the knots on your handle leaders to get the lines back to equal length...

If it's just a snapped line or two, you should be able to get it flying again!

welcome to the site, this bunch can get your kite up again!

Thank you all for your welcomes and input. Unfortunatly I am unable to get on dakitez website out here. That will have to wait until I get home I guess. It has to do with the blocks they have set up out here. I may try to tie up the flying line. If nothing else I am going to see if my wife will let me buy the new lines and handles I want next month.

This should help with the lines.

IMPROVED BLOOD KNOT

The Improved Blood Knot is used for tying two pieces of monofilament together of relatively equal diameters.

1. Overlap the ends of your two strands that are to be joined.
Twist them together about 10 turns.
2. Separate one of the center twists and thrust the two ends through the space.
3. Pull the knot together and trim off the short ends.

Better yet.

I think I may give it a try on my next day off. It seems simple to do and very effective. I will have to adjusted my other line to match the length. Thanks for the links.

Thanks for your service!
I have been there but I didn't know about foil kites then. I guess I really missed out. I know how difficult it can be to get stuff when you are there. I am not trying to sell for Dakites but maybe I can help you get what you need. From his website:

Quad Lineset 440lbs/265 lbs 82ft
SKU: lineset

Brand new set of 2 x 200kg ( 440 lbs ) and 2 x 120 kg ( 265 lbs ) Quad kite lines. 25m / 82 ft length. Pre-stretched dyneema w/ winder. Colored and stitched sleeving to easily tell power from brakes.

PRICE: $38.99

They look like the lines I got with my Pansh Blaze which are Dyneema. Maybe Dakites will hook you up and Email some pics to you. In the mean time maybe that knot will help

SCREWYFITS - 18-7-2008 at 09:20 PM

If you go the blood knot route (great knot) good luck and it should get you by for quite a while till you can get what you want...

And THANX for supporting the USA!!! We Love You Guys...:thumbup:

I apprecitate the info stetson05. I unable to get anything right now, got to make sure the bills and the wife and kids back at home are taken care of first. Right now it is looking like possibly next month before I can get something. I do thank you all for your input.

newkiteman - 4-8-2008 at 01:57 AM

Was finally able to take the kite out yesterday. One of my best flights to date yet. Had a lot of good scuds in there and a ok jump. Still trying to get the technique down. I will get it someday, I just enjoyed being able to get it out after it being down for that time. I will upload pictures whenever my camera cable gets here.

furbowski - 4-8-2008 at 07:13 AM

Still trying to get the technique down, eh? I don't think that ever stops, I've been trying to nail my jumps for about five months now and it feels like I've barely begun! I don't think the learning ever stops... One of the many things I love about the sport, the learning stretches up into the sky like a set of nice tight lines....

best of luck and fortune to you out in the desert, pretty uncomfortable position you are in there, hope you come home safe to wife and family!

@dakitez: you rock!

you take care out there newkiteflyer, save your risk-taking for that kite, eh?

furbs

newkiteman - 5-8-2008 at 03:38 PM

Yes I am still trying and you are right the learning never does stop. I will get it soon enough I am only able to fly it one day a week so I am limited on my time.
