Hey Sailors,
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you I cannot attend this years Fall Thang at Elmers.
I will be attending Kite Festivals in Portsmouth and Bristol England and the dates conflict.
Traditionally we have gathered the weekend AFTER Labor Day to hopefully minimize the impact of the motorcycles and their noise.
I expect there to still be a gathering, but I won't be attending.
Sept. 6th & 7th at our favorite camping spot at Walt's Cove.
I will miss you, but only this year.
Safen Up! Buggy On!

Hey Scooter,
My buddy Jordan and I might go as well. I haven't been in the water in quite some time so I might lean toward the beach instead if the wind is good
but it would be nice to see some kiting faces again and ride the obstacle course. I got to check with the wife to see what day would work, Sat or Sun.
Are you going to be there both days? If not, what day are you going?

I've decided to screw the ocean and do some inland buggying at El Mirage. Can't make it Sat though...looks like it'll be Sunday for me.
Scooter, if you're able (bringing the notebook with wireless :thumbup, let us
know how the weather is on Sat. Should be hot but hopefully the wind will be blowing.
Have fun!

I'm bummed
I was on my way out to El Mirage today and my truck decided to dump all its tranny fluid.
I was only a couple of miles away from the lakebed but ended up at a 76 station for a couple of hours waiting for AAA to pick me up.
Hope you all had fun. Breeze seemed a little light up till 5 when I left so hopefully it got better for you after that.
Dang, I missed both Thangs this year. Hopefully I'l be able to make them next year.
Cheers,
Larry

Hey Larry,
That sucks...sorry to hear that...being that close especially!!
I'm sure the people that were there will hopefully post soon but I did a wind check at 8:00pm and it was blowing 16mph out of the West and then 11mph
at 9:00pm.
Today is supposed to be a little stronger and I will definitely be making it out there today.
I'll report when I get back.
See you next year!

Hey Larry! Sorry to hear your truck broke down.. I came out on Saturday, got there about 11am and there wasn't much wind.. A bit of a blow in the
early afternoon, but then quiet again till just before dark it picked up again, so at least got in a little night buggying.. I had a new guy, Josh
that caravaned down following me, as well as Marty and Luther there from the Ventura area.. Did I mention it was about a hundred and plenty?? :smug:
But a good trip anyways as I had not been since Sprang Thang last year..

Well it seems that Sat was the day to go at least people wise. My buddy Jordan and I went on Sunday. We arrived about 3pm. He took his cousin and two
dirt bikes so we decided to kick it at the #2 bathroom across the lake bed from Walts so we wouldn't disturb anyone.
We made quite a few trips over to the cove but never saw any other kiters.
Good thing about Sunday was...the wind! Just like clock work the wind started blowing about 5min till 4pm. Unfortunately, it was pretty gusty and not
quite as smooth as other times but it stayed blowing 15-25mph the whole time we were there, averaing high teens, low 20's for long stretches.
We did tons of tacks riding both our buggys and landboards. Jordan had his 3.5 Blurr up while I decided to play it a little more conservative with my
2.5 Beamer II. Went on a few different obscales courses and practiced my toeside riding on my board. Jordan was even getting little airs on his
Blurr...
I took some pics which I'll be posting soon.
