Id really like to meet up with someone and check it out. Id like to get some ins and outs before I go and pay for some lessons that way I have some knowledge going in to it.

I just took lessons down in Hatteras last week. I tried to go out for my first time in the Tidewater area the same day you and Silvereaglekiter where at First Landing. I rigged everything at East Beach, got out in the water, dove the kite, and quickly realized that I should have rigged a bigger kite...part of the learning curve I guess.

Being a beginner I'm not someone who can tell you much other than it's one of the coolest things I've ever done. If you are gonna give it a go definitely take lessons. It's not something you want to try to learn on your own. Already knowing how to fly a kite is a huge benefit when it comes to kiteboarding. They say that it's 80% flying the kite and 20% riding the board, and from what little I've done I'd have to agree.

Start stashing some money away...it ain't cheap. LOL.

haha I just have to sell the girlfriend. Then I can afford it :)

That's exactly what you should do. Not only would you be able to afford it, she wouldn't be around to tell you, "all you ever want to do is kiteboard. I'd like to shove a kiteboard up your tail!" LOL

If you get a big kite and a board do yourself a favor and get a lesson or two.
