I finally learned how to use a sewing machine this weekend- whoo-hoo :singing: and I am thinking about making a kite now (2m Gual). Any suggestions
for where to buy coated ripstop? Also, where can I find, and what weight line do I need for the bridle lines? Any other tips for getting started? I
have access to a 42" plotter at work so printing the patterns shouldn't be a problem.
probably not what you are looking for but i posted a thread about a military surplus parachute I found. It is in the for sale area and over 3000sqft.
It is ripstop but I don't know if it is coatedripsessionkites - 21-7-2008 at 08:06 PM
cant remember right now, but there is another company in WA and OR. still scratching my head. PM when it comes to me.
how are you making your bridle lines ...
splice and sewn loop
knotted loop
sewn loop
???
i would say: 100lb to 150lb spectra / dyneema line or braided dacronacampbell - 22-7-2008 at 05:19 AM
ditto on kitebuilder.com
Be sure to save money and buy factory seconds. All that means is you wouldl not want to use it on a sail bacause there is a smudge or minor defect
here or there, but when cutting out kite parts you can cut around those.csa_deadon - 22-7-2008 at 06:00 AM
