I know it's not related to kiteboarding and I know must of us probably don't kite on concrete, and probably never go for big jumps like this but I
still thought it was worth posting.
I don't know why but this video really got to me. I'm seen worst things on youtube. Maybe it's because of the fact that it could have been so easily
prevented. Maybe because I'm a parent and I wonder how I'd feel if my son/daughter had an accident that caused them to have permanent brain damage or
maybe it's because of the comments I read - "....at least he had balls"...What???? Are you kidding me??? I'd swallow my pride any day of the week if
it means not having brain damage....and I'm sure if that kid could have that moment back in time, you would as well.
Be safe out there...lunchbox - 28-7-2008 at 04:41 PM
Having second thoughts about posting this...sorry if it offends anyone or if it's too "in your face"...that was not my intent.Sandman - 28-7-2008 at 05:02 PM
Thanks to lunchbox I am now looking at a nice melon protector. I have started using my old bicycle helmet, but now after seeing this video and others
I think I will just go out and spend a few more bucks on a good safety rated one.dgkid78 - 28-7-2008 at 05:05 PM
I was eating watermelon while watching this.....I don't want watermelon anymore.......:megan:WELDNGOD - 28-7-2008 at 05:11 PM
I would like to think that the kiting community is a little more intelligent than that. what we do is extreme, what they are doing is STOOOOPID. And
as everybody knows ,you just can't fix stupid. I hate to say it but not havin a helmet was just a small part of his stupidity. Helmet or not, he was
obviously a moron who hopefully won't breed with another moron and create a more moronic moron.
moral of the story
DON'T BE A MORON, WEAR YOUR BRAIN BUCKET! OR YOU MIGHT GET DAIN BRAMAGE.Sandman - 28-7-2008 at 07:56 PM

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. stetson05 - 28-7-2008 at 11:56 PM
Thanks for the post. I think most kids would think twice about the stupid stuff they do if they saw what can happen. If seeing stuff like this
prevents one injury it is worth it.
Its also a reminder to wear a helmet all the time cause you never know when you are going to need it.f0rgiv3n - 29-7-2008 at 07:05 AM
Yeah... i've seen lots of skateboarding vids and some people are just idiotic when it comes to protecting their own bodies. It's like so you think
you're too cool huh?archkiter - 29-7-2008 at 07:56 AM
OUCH! :wow:
I hit my head a few weeks ago during an OBE. I was wearing a helmet and hit head first into fairly soft sand in the dunes. I hit really hard though
and was seeing stars far a while afterwards. I had a headache and was a bit fuzzy for three days afterwards. I was lucky and was glad that I always
wear a helmet- that OBE could have been so much worse for me if I hadn't had one on despite a relatively forgiving surface.
It's worth it to protect your melon whether you are on soft sand or on concrete- there is too much that can suddenly go wrong even on the best of
days.Bladerunner - 29-7-2008 at 08:39 AM
I have seen a fellow OBE in those same dunes and cracked his head open on the buggy frame. ( no helmet )
Wear a helmet EVERY TIME you put a kite in the air. It then just becomes natural to have it on. You never have to say I usually wear a helmet but

I have several green marks on my helmet where I have flipped the buggy and the rear axle slammed into my head. Hit a clamshell at 35 mph, might as
well be a brick. Even the styrofoam in a skateboard helmet will help absorb a percentage of the impact your brain will sustain when it smacks the
inside of your skull(that is what a concussion is), even on soft sand you can get a concussion. And if it don't look cool, go get some of those
stickers you see on bikers helmets or get it airbrushed .even an ugly helmet is cooler than a metal plate in your head.
