I woke up this morning and finally, finally had some tree swaying wind out there. It has been a while since I have truly been able to fly, and was
thrilled. I got all geared up, put on my impact shorts and some old torn up shorts to hit the park with my speed. I have not gotten to really fly it
except for one time, so I am still learning how to control it. I guess what I really learned was how to pop myself up into the air, cause I found
myself suspended about 10 feet off the ground with my keester falling rapidly. There was really no way to avoid it, and my left side hit square on dry
packed, sun hardened field. I felt it jar my spine, and it stunned me a bit... but I got up and can walk perfectly fine, all thanks to those impact
shorts.
Anyone new reading this that does not have a pair, please do yourself a favor and go get some. I learned this one the hard way, and that's the only
reason I had them on today. I got mine online for about $50.
I left the field with an ear-to-ear grin instead of a limp. Go get you some impact shorts. They go on anytime I feel like I might take a fall.leebrianh - 6-8-2008 at 12:25 PM
Where did you get them? Can you post a link here?PHREERIDER - 6-8-2008 at 12:28 PM
HILL BILLY PANTS WILL SAVE YOUR BONES
OR ALEAST A SEAT HARNESS WITH DECENT COVERAGE
WOULD NOT EVEN THINK OF RIDING atb WITHOUT SOMETHING ON YOUR A$$kiteNH - 6-8-2008 at 01:13 PM
I've avoided impact shorts so far because they look like they would feel like wearing a giant diaper. Maybe its time to reconsider.
Any recommendations on "non-bulky" brands that will actually fit under a pair of shorts are appreciated. I've looked at the Hill Billy ones but they
look HUGE.dylanj423 - 6-8-2008 at 01:18 PM
I use the burton red impact shorts. They are a bit bulky, but my shorts still fit over them just fine. they have lots of padding, and a few plastic
plates where your hips and tailbone are. They are hot, hard to pee with, and make me look a bit bigger than I am. But remember... ear-to-ear grin, or
limping for a week... for me the choice is easy (at least it became easy after I limped for a week). My fall today probably wouldve injured me more
than the one that gave me that limp last time. There are dents now in the plastic that I dont remember seeing before! I'm just glad there aren't dents
in my flesh!
The gust that took me up couldnt have been more than 12mph, by the way! And in my area, it could happen at any time.lunchbox - 6-8-2008 at 01:18 PM
Hey DJ,
Glad you made it back unscathed...10ft is pretty high...especially on hard pack.
What was wind speed?
I don't have a pair of impact shorts but I think I might have to re-evaluate that decision.dylanj423 - 6-8-2008 at 01:22 PM
Last post edited... gust was about 12mph. Not a whole lot. Part of the learning curve, I guess.WELDNGOD - 6-8-2008 at 03:43 PM

Hey man, just wanted to send positive prayers your way for the wife. Hope everything turns out okay.WELDNGOD - 6-8-2008 at 06:23 PM
thanks Bro', can use all the prayers we can get.We hope it's something simple, but it ain't lookin good. We ruled out reproductive probs., now they
wanna check gastro-intestinal.(several female relatives have died of colon cancer). sorry to bring everybody down w/ my probs. The PKF is where I go
to not think about it too much. That's why I post so much here lately._____ - 6-8-2008 at 06:58 PM

Just Pray alot. Last night she was in some bad abdominal pain, then she went to the bathroom and passed alot of blood from where women don't bleed. So
today we were at the doctor. That's why I have no buggy update for you today. Apparently ,no matter how good your insurance is( mine is the best I
ever had)you can't just go to a gastro -enterologist. you have to be referred. She had a cat scan last week so her reproductive area is clear. (This
is why she doesn't fly much anymore.)I wanted to take her to ER , but she wouldn't go. The doc said they would just do what he did and give her an
appointment to a gastro doc. This sux! Anyway I wanna apologize to all for this very off topic reply. I gotta think of somethin else or I'm
not gonna sleep again tonight. thanx bro'ikemiester - 8-8-2008 at 08:22 PM
sorry about the better half man

Sometimes I wear them after a sesion all day and do nt relize it.
Thanks to the guy who won them from an above it all kites drawing that gave them to me through jim
What a wierd coisidence.BeamerBob - 8-8-2008 at 08:58 PM
Donny, keep praying and loving. They both help. You have my thoughts and prayers till she's clear.WELDNGOD - 9-8-2008 at 02:35 PM
Thanx alot BBob! Amen to that bro' We have been tryin to find out what the prob is for 2 yrs. and it's gettin worse. We have been to 5 or 6
different docs now , and they all say something different. I think all they want to do is soak my ins. co. for money. Ob /gyn has done ultrasound 3
times and can't find her right ovary (colon blocking veiw?) Then they did a CAT SCAN and the say the prob. isn't reprodutive oriented.(then why did
she menstruate for 21 days straight?) Now ,there passing her off to Gastro-enterologist. Now's when I get scared( 2 of her female relatives died of
colon cancer). They say if they catch it early ,it's curable. but when all you get is sorry docs that don't listen to people, and it goes untreated for
a couple of years, then your odds ain't great. Dam I did it again! I'm sorry for this post, it's not very kite related. But she does like to fly her
Sting and my 2.5 Rage . when she feels good.(that is getting less frequent though) So I guess you could call her a kiter of sorts. everybody just pray
for her, I would just give up on life ,if anything happened to her. She IS my BEST friend! and the better part of ME. Without her I would be a
piece of crap.( she makes me do right )dylanj423 - 10-8-2008 at 07:31 AM
I am sorry to hear that y'all are in pain (emotional and otherwise). You certainly have my prayers, also.
Don't apologize for the post, its not necessary. Sometimes writing something out for me is the only way through it... maybe more than just sometimes.
Knowing you have some support, and that others care, also, is always helpful, too. Take care.WELDNGOD - 10-8-2008 at 09:10 AM
