Pass The Wolkenstuermer Electra 4.6

ripsessionkites - 6-8-2008 at 08:06 PM

Working on another pass the kite.

However I'd like to know what size most people want to test, and i'll just take an average and get that size in for everyone to test.

Company: Wolkenstuermer
Kite: Electra
Websites:
http://www.xn--wolkenstrmer-klb.de/
http://www.wolkenstürmer.com
(note the site is in German, on the left menu, under Online Shop, click MATTEN)

harddrive8 - 6-8-2008 at 08:16 PM

If possible, I'd like to get in on a pass the kite activity. If I may, I'd vote for the 4.6m.

SCREWYFITS - 6-8-2008 at 09:21 PM

Put me on the list to be on the list...:D

csa_deadon - 7-8-2008 at 01:17 AM

The 4.6 sounds good. Put on the list to0..

clintopher - 7-8-2008 at 02:29 AM

I'd like to check it out too. My vote is for the 6.8 though.

Clint

Bladerunner - 7-8-2008 at 08:38 AM

4.6 will probably cover the widest set of winds.

That's a good point...change my vote to 4.6.

speleopower - 7-8-2008 at 03:17 PM

I can't seem to get into the website but I would actually vote for a larger kite. We've done lots of pass the kites with 4-5 meter kites. I would like to try a larger kite to make it worth my time. I guess I'm biased because I have several 4-5 meter kites.

See ya-Scott

Bladerunner - 7-8-2008 at 06:07 PM

If I'm right this is a buggy bias kite ? Looks a touch like a Bullet to me. If it was built for jumping like a Blade I would be with you . Being a buggy engine I still feel that a 4.6 will cover the best range. I know I got a ton of range out of my 4.5 Bullet .

I'd love to try it

ripsessionkites - 13-8-2008 at 09:57 PM

list has been updated ... i dunno where everyone is in the USA ... if the order needs to change, please do so ... harddrive8 is first

oddly this is the 3rd kite to go south of the border. i have two more Pass the ??? (cooper kite and mr.kitesurf g-force) coming so we'll start that one in Canada first.

kitedemon - 14-8-2008 at 08:32 AM

I feel like a kid again in 3rd grade bouncing up and down with my arm as high in the air as I can get it ohohohohmememe I'd love to try a cooper as well... a smaller size... 2.6 or 3.3 looks about right.... when you get that far... Ricardo... :singing:

ripsessionkites - 21-8-2008 at 11:50 AM

its arrived and will be going to SOBB until the Sept 3-4 and than the pass begins with Harddrive8.

i will say High Quality and cant comment on performance, i'll leave that part up to you guys.

*edited*

i couldnt resist trying out a new kite, so I've opened up the 4.6m and it handles inland gusts pretty well. I was at a local park with 3 buildings around, and it musters through the lulls okay.

on first view I was trying to figure out the bridle setup, since you have adjusts not only using the brake knots but also the Power Line Bridles. I've set it up to 4 knots out right now, but demoers, please play around with it.
I'm supplying this kite with regular spectra lines, and Mr.Jellis Handles.

Bridle Picture: http://www.ripsessionkites.com/wolkensturmer/Electra-Trimmun...

for reference I've added a picture of the bridle adjustment options, since they DO NOT have a manual yet in ENGLISH. German anyone?

Some information from the team riders:

I fly my Electras on lines from 13m to 18m. This kite is very stable to fly and incredible fast. Some weeks ago we started with the Electras at the 24hours Race.
We started to break the old Worldrecord of 639km/24hours. Our Team (me and 2 friends) finished with 787 driven Kilometers.

Here is a nice video of the 24h Race in St. Peter Ording:

http://www.humpert.info/data/kite/24h-spo-2008.wmv
(enjoy the video, lots of U-Turns, Jojos, Ozones, Libre, PKDs and even that Yak GT)

speleopower - 24-8-2008 at 05:37 PM

Hi! For sure put me in. I'd like to give the kite a try.

Thanks-Scott

Gotta love the "Pass The..." programs.

Bladerunner - 24-8-2008 at 06:04 PM

Yes,

Rip' has loaded me up with kites to try

I will have the 4.6 and 6.8 with me at Sobb. Some Mr. Kitesurf kites to try as well ! The 3 and 8m Firewall and a 7.5m Yeti snowkite :singing:

All of these kites are available for others at SOBB to try :cool2:

People who are serious about depower that want to try my Flysurfers are welcome to give them a try also

Skatewing as well :borg:

Sthrasher38 - 25-8-2008 at 05:47 PM

I wan't to try one bro!! And I am Serious! I guess I havt to wait for Nabx.:sniff:

ripsessionkites - 25-8-2008 at 08:58 PM

screwyfits is second on the list, there speedysthrasher. =)

Sthrasher38 - 27-8-2008 at 04:24 PM

Sorry rip, I was talking to Bladerunner on that Flysurfer. And if Screwy is 2nd that is cool. Demo kites sent here get to be tried by the nor cal guys. That is great to get to try new kites w/ your flying buddies.

Bladerunner - 2-9-2008 at 08:01 PM

Well I also got to fly the Wofenwhatsit !
Thanks Rip' for so many fine kites to try out at SOBB !

Another great newcomer :thumbup::thumbup:

I have to compare this one to my 4.5 Bullet. Very similar kites with very similar charactaristics. I only wish I had tried a Rage because I think it would also compare nicely. I would go so far as to suggest that this is an improvement on the Bullet. It doesn't have the mesh on the openings but I hated that in wet snow .

This is a buggy engine for sure ! Lots of smooth pull and not too much lift. VERY sensitive to brake input. Very well behaved and a great kite for getting in to buggies ! I found it was tricky to back down due to the sensitive brakes but I'm sure you would get that down to an art in very short time !

Very sharp looking kite in Black and a goldy Orange accent !

I would recommend this one to anyone that is excited about the Blurr but can't afford it yet !

Sthrasher38 - 4-9-2008 at 02:01 PM

Nice new avatar BR!

ripsessionkites - 10-9-2008 at 11:14 PM

kite is leaving this TUE ... sorry for the delay need to use the kite this monday for TV show.

please refer to the bridle adjustment posted earlier for max performance.

ripsessionkites - 16-9-2008 at 05:34 PM

on its way to harddrive8

harddrive8 - 22-9-2008 at 12:33 PM

Received today. Did a little flying, about 15 min. worth, before having to come in and start getting ready for school.

Edit:

I got to fly it a little more this afternoon/evening and it really is a power on/power off kite when static flying. It is super easy to launch even in lighter winds. I also would like to comment that the pull is a bit more than I expected for the low wind conditions I was flying in.

After a while of flying in low gusty winds, the wind picked up to be a bit more steady. I decided to try several of the AAA settings and never could get it good and stable towards the edge of the window. It kept wanting to fold in half. I'll play with it a little more within the next few days and see what I can come up with getting it to be a little more stable at the edge. While in center of the window, it was a different animal completely. It gave plenty of pull and seemed like it would be a good buggy, ATB engine.

These are my thoughts after the first day flying it. We're actually supposed to have some higher winds that we normally don't get around here (upwards of 16mph on Wednesday according to weather.com).

harddrive8 - 28-9-2008 at 10:25 AM

Had some more time on the kite as this past week wound down with uncharacteristic winds. Winds are back to the normal 4-8mph so kite will probably leave out by the middle of the week to the next person in line.

harddrive8 - 28-9-2008 at 12:01 PM

We really had uncharacteristic winds in this area this past week blowing in the upper teens and lower 20's. During some of the drop off periods when it was blowing 10-15mph, I took the Electra out for more flight time. In about 13+ winds, it pulls hard. Sandman and I received quite a few scuds across some short grass. We also tested a few different AAA settings to try to get it dialed in to be more stable than it was Monday. We did manage to get it a little more stable, but it still seemed to lack the ability to keep from folding up as it got closer to the edge of the window.

harddrive8 - 1-10-2008 at 09:19 AM

Kite left this morning on it's way to Screwyfits.

USA_Eli_A - 1-10-2008 at 09:47 AM

eli wants to fly this...

csa_deadon - 1-10-2008 at 02:56 PM

Eli, I'm next on the list after Screwyfits. When it gets to me I may just have to make a trip up. What an excuss to get up to sunset beach. lol.

ripsessionkites - 1-10-2008 at 07:01 PM

oddly, this kite has already been to sobb 2008 with Bladerunner.

i'm making special arrangements with Eli.

SCREWYFITS - 7-10-2008 at 08:08 PM

I got the kite on Friday... Thanx... But you forgot something very important!!!

A lil wind to go with it... I'm SOL with mother nature as of now... I'm hoping this weekend... otherwise I ship to the next in the next week or so, with no review... maybe get back on the end of the list... or wait till NABX...:D

SCREWYFITS - 29-10-2008 at 08:02 PM

On it's way to csa_deadon today...

Thanx RIP... You Da Man!!!

I'd like to Thank Ripsessionkites for his selfless act of kindness for all the Pass the Kites that he has provided us here on the forum, also in trusting people that he has never met with valuable product of his... Please everybody help me thank him and lets do our best to get these kites back in a solid state as originally sent... Which I think we are doing!!!

THANK YOU RIP!!!

harddrive8 - 29-10-2008 at 08:21 PM

Yes! I must agree with Screwy, and thank Ripsession myself... This was my first pass the kite, and it was a really enjoyable experience that I hope I can take part in again in the future.

I'm not sure who came up with the pass the kite or when it started, but it's really a win win for everybody involved I think. It's really nice to be able to get a kite for a few weeks to try and be able to pass it on without a car full of money invested.

csa_deadon - 4-11-2008 at 12:16 PM

On it's way to WG!!

speleopower - 8-1-2009 at 06:49 PM

The kite is on it's way to me.
I have not been able to get on the manufactures website. Does anyone have pictures?

Anyone who has flown the kite have any good feedback on it?

Scott

csa_deadon - 9-1-2009 at 12:00 AM
