USA_Eli_A - 7-8-2008 at 02:58 PM

you never know who you are going to run into these days....so a very nice couple stopped in for kites and disclosed they make huge sails for sail boats....and that they have loads of scraps big enough to make kites out of....

they will sell sail cloth, but if you pay for shipping, they will send scraps for free!

send email to: ptsails@olympus.net

Port Townsend Sails
attention Nicki or Mikiya....

very nice people and very generous!

Maybe I can finally get the cloth for silvereagles NPW, my bad dude.

NPWfever - 11-8-2008 at 08:49 PM

I sent email, and was told they don't give out nylon scraps?

kitemaker4 - 12-8-2008 at 11:36 AM

At least you got a reply. I am still waiting to hear from them.

No reply here either. Oh well...

I've got some scraps lying around if someone wants to play with them. Some are little, some are decent sized.... I keep saying one day I'm going to sew them all together and make a banner or something...

Remember though... for making a foil you'll need about 3.5 to 4 times the foil size in yards of fabric. That'd be a ton of sewing together scraps, each making a potential weak point, and you'd have to align the fabric weave to keep the stretch the same.

Watch for a sale and buy a bunch....

ah. sorry, I forgot to mention the two that send out the scraps, are playing in a volleyball tourney here...I will follow up and see if I can get them to engage!

I think they left on teus to head up to norther Wa state...

Hey Taper, I think I might take you up on a couple scraps. I've been wanting myself to make a banner/wind sock to know the wind direction at all times --easily. :P Winds here in Idaho are squirrelly.
