After I made up the 7.1 I started the 8 meter. All I lack is the bridle.

Thanks Steve. I will have to remember lace trim next time.

Hey Susan
I don't want any of that girly stuff on my 10 m thank you.
Brad

kitemaker4 - 20-8-2008 at 06:09 PM

I just need to cut out the blue. I will finish that up after Beau eats supper. My goal was to have it at least cut out today. Wow talk about a big nasa wing.

Susan (npw goddess)

kitemaker4 - 21-8-2008 at 11:05 AM

Well I got the 10 meter cut out last night and was able to take a picture before the rain so here it is.

How many meters of line used in the bridals of 15m?...................aj

kitemaker4 - 21-8-2008 at 08:22 PM

I will go and look it up. I am sure lots.

Susan (npw goddess)

kitemaker4 - 21-8-2008 at 08:26 PM

Sorry I looked on the plans and it does not state how much line.

Do you have a problem?

Susan (npw goddess)

kitemaker4 - 21-8-2008 at 08:31 PM

Good news I found out how much. To bridle a 15 npw5 with the classic bridle it calls for 146 meters of line. If you use the cascade bridle it calls for 30 % less bridle lines. I hope that this helped.

Susan (npw goddess)

action jackson - 21-8-2008 at 08:47 PM

Wow! That makes me dizzy thinking about it:tumble:! If this light wind continues i going to hit slp this weekend.:o Its been one yr without the puppy:( I need a good sunrise sesion.............aj

Susan (npw goddess)

kitemaker4 - 12-9-2008 at 05:19 PM

Good news got the 10 meter finished today. I lost a few weeks to Gustav. Now I need the wind to drop down below 5mph to test fly it. Also need dry conditons to take a picture of it.

Susan (npw goddess)

NPWfever - 12-9-2008 at 07:54 PM

DUDE!!!! 10m NPW!!!

I'm waiting around for someone to throw out a spinnaker from a huge yacht, to make a 50m. Make it black, and it would create its own thermal winds!! :P

bbrex - 13-9-2008 at 04:27 PM

My big NPW is a NPW9 15m

kitemaker4 - 6-11-2008 at 09:26 AM

Wow

Some of us went to Holly Beach in Lousiana yesterday. I flew the 8 meter on about 20 to 25 foot lines. Talk about fun. I flew several other kites but had the most fun with the 8 meter. I finally had to put it away with the wind picking up and even with Beau and his 60 pounds in the back the buggy was being pulled down wind.

Susan (npw goddess);)

kitemaker4 - 8-11-2008 at 09:31 AM

I started cutting out the 11 meter last night. I will post pictures in a few days. Wow it is going to be big. So far this will be the biggest nasa wing for me to sew. Looking forward to flying it in low winds.

Susan (npw goddess)

kitemaker4 - 8-12-2008 at 04:42 PM

Hey kitemaker4, It's always a pleasure looking at your work! I have a ton of questions, which might be better answered off the board, but I'm curious, have you ever heard of or made the NPW-HA, a high aspect NPW developed by Jan Claes of Belgium? I believe it is based on the NPW9b platform, but having a triple wide center panel, and cascade bridling. I found an excellent program online by Tom White, the NPW-HA Calculator. I have been dreaming of building these kites, but haven't a whole lot sewing experience. Too much for a beginner project? I was thinking of warming up by sewing covers for the pool noodles I use as padding on the buggy, I found some fabric in the same neon green!bobalooie57

Dido I would Like to Chat up this Subject as well

Taper123 - 24-6-2009 at 08:43 AM

Babalooooie....

Make yourself a couple flowforms or delta's or something to warm up with. Always nice to have a few single lines to throw up in the air to compliment your power kites. If you can make a delta kite... you can sew a NPW. If you can make a flowform... you can make a foil. Or at least that's my convuluted logic.

But if ya don't wanna make one, Susan really does do top notch work.

kitemaker4 - 26-6-2009 at 12:46 PM

I finished making the npw9 11 meter and just waiting for some wind for a test fly. Here are some pics.

art_lessing - 3-7-2009 at 01:35 PM

hi Susan,
I have a npw9 3.4 from hq ...I tried rebridling it to have a cascade bridal. Well it worked only to a degree. It flies, yes, but it acts like a maniac in the air. it collapses and pops open on the ground has tremendous side pull and no lift..to the point where its dangerous...no idea how to adjust the bridal...do you have measurements for this cascaded bridal....I remember when I first got the kite it was easy to fly but the single point bridal was a pain so I switched it now its a lunatic...and have you figured out anything new to stop nose collapse

kitemaker4 - 3-7-2009 at 02:15 PM

Susan,

I will be at DBBB with my homemade NPW9b kite so hope you can give me some pointers on bridle adjustments. It's a 6m made from 3/4oz ripstop nylon. It pulls pretty good in 10mph wind!!

van - 20-11-2009 at 09:01 AM

deleted.

herc - 20-11-2009 at 04:10 PM

can you use that 32sqm monster also for some hang-gliding action? , lift/drag isnt that great, but in 32sqm size it should act mostly like a parachute with some glide ?

kitemaker4 - 29-11-2009 at 08:41 AM

I would not recomend any kite for hang-gliding unless it was built for that purpose.

bridal

manofthewind - 7-12-2009 at 07:40 AM

sussan do you have the bridal lines go through the kite or do you use tabs thank you josh :)

van - 7-12-2009 at 08:04 AM

I found it hard to sew the dacron into the seams so I sew tabs on mine. Just make sure you sew the dacron support into your seams if you are gonna just tie your bridal directly to the seam. I made the tabs out of the ripstop material itself. Only hard part about that is that you have to mark off ahead of time so you can insert the tabs in as you sew the seams. I guess you can sew the tabs on afterwards but it wouldn't be as durable or look as good.

kitemaker4 - 7-12-2009 at 09:03 AM

I attach the bridle lines a different way. It would be helpful to know what plans you used to make the kite.

I have seen plans where they sew tabs and also making holes to put the bridle lines through.

You can do a search on the forum to pull up all sorts of info.

I myself like nasa wings because they are single skin kites and can fly when nothing else will. They are easy to make.
